Its really easy.

Youll just need to pop your oem key open.
take out your fob/chip. ( the big red part in pic )

unscrew and pop off the front of the flip key,
place your fob/chip in
close, put screw back in.

take to a locksmith
have them cut the blade to match yours.
DONE.

in this pic, I took the flip key totally apart.
you WILL NOT have to.
I'm just showing you our fob/chip. it is sealed. NOT an exposed chip.
it just pops out.

heres a couple more pics....

Damn man those are unbelievable, Very Nice work.
When I get paid I might want a Black Carbon flip for the Eclipse.

This is gonna sound like an obvious answer and a dumb question but the buttons are offset because of the key correct?

Thank you very much. : )

yes, the buttons are offset because of the blade.
not a dumb question. : )

this is all you would need to do...

pop open your oem key...
like this...

take this...

and put it in here.

put screw back in.
then take flip key and your oem key to your local locksmith, to have them cut the flip key blade to match your oem key.

yes, sorry : (
its for a Mitsubishi Lancer, and is a LEFT groove. ( I dont have extra blades for this one)

another member modified their 4g keys chip to fit into the EVO key, but youd loose your trunk button and your buttons are reversed...
theres a thread somewhere about it...

#22 ·
Thank you. : )

yes, the button releases the blade. ( they are closed/hidden in all the pic's )
yes, ALL 4 buttons still function as normal.

here ya go. I took this pic the other day.
they have RIGHT GROOVE blades that I made/cut,in them at the moment....(thats what mine is)
but I have some LEFT GROOVE blades too.
I will swap out the blade for you if you need.

The LANCER key has a LEFT GROOVE.
I DO NOT have any other blade for this one.

more pics of the blades in them here if you want.
(page 3 if it doesent go straight there)

also, pics of mine. I've been useing mine for about 9 months (hydro-dipped) and love it.

this is the solution for eclipse keys THE POCKET ROCKET - For Volkswagen Enthusiasts

I followed the pocketrocket guide (above) and it worked like a charm.
Quick steps:
1. get a duplicate key made (i got a an ilco mit6 for like $5) at a local locksmith
2. took apart the flipkey blade (knock out the kingpin and the key slides right out) <--you need a 1/16 punch to do this
3. used the flipkey blade as a template for the duplicate key
4. used a dremel to cut it down
5. replaced it with my duplicate key
6. put it all back together (with the chip and everything)
7. said a prayer and started up the car
8. success!

#24 · (Edited)
yes, thank you.
This is what I did too.
never herd of pocket rocket. though, nice find. : )

to all.
I have already done this for you guys.
I have Cole MIT3 ( left groove ) and Hillman MT6 ( right groove ) key blades I cut. They will come with my hydro-dipped keys.

All you will need to do, is put your fob/chip in, and take to a locksmith.

In the "Blades" pic, above, you can see the blades I cut, to the left of the blades.
There are, 4 LEFT that I cut + 1 that came with the flip key.
There is 1 RIGHT that I cut, and 10 that came with the flip keys.
the rest of the RIGHT groove ones I cut, are IN the flip keys...

let me try to explain the blades a little better.

here are RIGHT GROOVE blades that I made. ( to the left )

the Yellow and Satin Lagoon ones,( to the right ) still have the blades that came with them. ( I will swap them out when someone is interested, you could need a LEFT groove.)

#26 ·
All the blades I have WILL WORK.
Just make sure you tell me the correct blade, right or left.

the blades that came with them..
your locksmith will just have to cut/shave the shoulders/"stops" off the sides, on the blades that came with them...
(some cars use the "stops"/shoulders some dont.)

Some keys have a BIG groove in the middle, and some have a THIN groove in the middle.
( I made these RIGHT GROOVE blades cause MY OEM key had a THIN groove, and I wanted a thin groove. I figured some of you would want that too, so I made extras.)

I asked my locksmith about the big and thin grooves and he said it didnt matter.

in this pic, are the blades I cut, and the blades that came with the flip keys.

The LEFT groove blades I cut, still have a BIG groove, cause thats the blank that the book says to use and I've seen some LEFT groove oem keys with this big groove.

I drew on the blades with black marker to show you where your locksmith will need to cut.
They will do this when you go to get it cut.

On the RIGHT GROOVE, ones I made, the locksmith has less to cut/shave.
( prob easier for the locksmith to line up in the machine too, when cutting to match your oem key.)

In short, I will make sure your all set.
I wont set you up with the wrong key.

I did these for the club, and for people to enjoy. : )

I want number 10. Am I correct in thinking i can just get the plastic parts from you and pop them on my current key??

Secondly... what I REALLY want is a purple carbon fiber, like this:

https://www.google.com/search?q=purple+carbon+fiber&espv=210&es_sm=93&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=b3XnUu73BYnxoAS31oCIAg&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1276&bih=716

This would be amazing, and I would be happy to pay a bit more if you had to track some purple down. If its too much money or too hard to find I have dibs on #10

Pictures do not do these keys justice!!! I'm the world's hardest critic, but I was simply blown away with the craftsmanship and quality of these keys. I have received a lot of compliments for my key already. It feels really good in your hand, perfect weight and size IMHO. Plus ryguy is a really good communicator/seller. He helped me with every question/concern I had. BUY HIS KEYS!!!!

Got mine today in the mail. Look better in real life then they do in the pictures!

For my interior pieces I was gonna wrap them in fabric, but I might get them hydrodipped instead.
