lifter issues

My sons eclipse gt just got a engine swap, the old one had a roller bearing issue, and would've cost a arm an a leg to replace. Got him a new used one, and everything was great, until the back lifters started clicking, changed the oil, after using motor flush, no noise, then it started back up after driving it 25 miles, is it sludge or a bad lifter? an how much should it cost me to get it fixed versus me doing it, ps I am not a bad mechanic, just working on these new foreign jobs gives me a headache

Welcome to the club. If you hear lifter tick, it's most likely because it's a Mitsubishi. How bad is it?

First please note it's not a "foreign job" as the 3g's were built in the US. Second, what grade/weight oil are you running? And have you flushed coolant system?
