So RRE is still not making the headers for the 4g eclipse. I seriously need them as I am getting multiple codes from my stock manifold being cracked. I do not want cats (but if I cant find anything else its fine) and I sure as hell will not gut them. Does anybody have a used set of RRE headers looking to sell or know of any brands that make them other than some EBay knock offs. It would seriously help a lot if somebody gets back to me soon. Iv been waiting patiently since May. This is a big problem as my inspection date is coming up. (Edit) I was just on rockauto.com and found multiple headers with cats. Which of these brands will make the most power? Are any better than stock? Iv heard Walker is as close to OEM as anything else.

pcfreak4 has a spectacular aura about
Why not gut the stock header and have a shop weld it back where it’s cracked?

That is not the plan. I still would like to pass emissions and just grab a new bolt on. I can weld myself and I would have done that if I wanted to. Im choosing between two bow. Walker and Ultra power. Which one will offer the best performance and reliability? If you know please let me know ASAP

You realize that there’s still a chance of the cat emissions codes being thrown with anything other than OEM header right? Some of the aftermarket ones don’t filter enough

Unless you get the Hackish tune

Okay if I Gut them should I use spacers to prevent the O2 sensors from getting damaged?

Basically Stock

The RRE header 100% throws cat codes

What stops them is a tune and having no cats.

OEM replacement manifolds are about $400 on RockAuto, and will out flow gutted cats. Otherwise, RRE and a tune are needed, spacers kinda work

Gutted cats, no cats, or even a new header with aftermarket cats that don’t filter as much as the computer is looking for will throw the cat codes, maybe intermittently on aftermarket cats, all the time on gutted/no cats

It’s not about protecting the O2 sensors, it’s about using spacers to get them out of the exhaust stream with small holes to let the exhaust in, so that it tricks the computer into thinking that there are cats, again, this works intermittently

Only for sure way to make sure you don’t get the codes is to get a Hackish Fastworks tune to turn the cat codes off forever, or to buy an OEM quality header with cats that filters as good as the original did, so any “high flow” cat will probably upset the computer still for the header ones

Now your 3rd cat under the car, computer doesn’t monitor it

I used spacers for mine before tuning with Fastworks. I used single spacers, code present. Double spacers, code present. I used L spacers... you guessed it... code present. Tuned, code gone. The tune is the long run solution.

RRE emailed me two days ago saying they have a fresh run of headers to be shipped out end of the week so I'd inquire fast . I was on the list but no longer need them so there might be at least one set not spoken for . I'd check it out sooner than later .
