06 eclipse door lock problem

Hello everyone. I have an 06 eclipse and I have diagnosed the passenger side door lock actuator as bad... Is it hard to replace, do I have to remove the metal plate to do it? And where can I buy an actuator? I've searched all over the web for this and can't find anything! Thanks in advance...

Yes I've tried this site, and I don't think its a weird electrical glitch... It works sometimes and doesn't work other times...

I am having the same problem on the driver's side lock. I haven't gotten around to replacing it yet so let me know how difficult it is once you replace yours.

Hello guys I'm sort of new to the forums, I been reading a lot but not posting. I was having this problem about 2 months ago when my passenger door lock would work then not work sometimes. Recently it stopped working, a few weeks now, does anyone have information on the cause of this? I have a 08 GS A/T and I did find out recently that I have a bad battery because of a bad jump start with my friends car but I haven't replaced it because money is a little tight atm. Also my dome light fuse is blown and as I tried replacing it the alarm stopped working and the dome light was still out. These problems might contribute to the door lock problem but your input could possibly help me out thank you!

This is a very common problem with the 4g... Make sure your battery terminals are properly connected this sometimes is the issue but for the most part nobody has figured out why this happens. There's a lot of literature regarding this topic if you wanna read more

Thank you. I'll try moving the terminals around a bit to see if that works. I will also try resetting the ecu in the way that clovisman has posted on this site. If that does not work, I will check to see if the blown fuse from the dome lights caused a short somewhere and hopefully be able to fix it. And if all else fails I will replace the battery when the chance comes. If I'm able to fix it I will let you guys know what steps were taken to fix it and maybe help someone fix theirs also. It sucks that I can't lock my passenger door using my key because I can open that door without setting off the alarm.

A fuse is not the issue with his lock.. If it were a blown fuse neither lock would work

Update

I replaced the old car battery with an energizer battery from Sam's Club with 3 year warranty.

I replaced the blown fuse with a new fuse and managed to keep the alarm working.

And finally, I reset the ecu using clovisman's post but the lock still doesn't work properly.

I'm left with thinking that it might be the actuator or something inside the door. I don't want to mess with anything electrical that might cause another problem so when I get the chance I'll let a mechanic take a look at it and I'll let you guys know if I find anything.

Hey there, ever figure out the issue? my sister's car has been having this issue since 2009. It was never an issue for her, but since it's mine now, it's become my issue. It'll sometimes work, sometimes won't.

I noticed like if you give it some time to "rest" it'll lock and unlock, but if you try it in successions, it'll keel over like an elderly heart attack victim. Anyways, that's only sometimes, most of the time it doesn't lock, but will at least unlock.

I've tried cleaning out the terminals so far, but nothing. I might end up replacing them all for a big 3 upgrade, hopefully that helps with the car's funky electrical. Even the dome light sometimes flickers - works and doesn't work when switched. I wonder if changing that fuse out with a fresh one will help. I guess it doesn't hurt to try.

I don't mean to hijack your thread either, our issues seemed nearly identical.

My 06 GT has this problem. When my car sits for awhile, (like overnight) it doesnt work. But after i drive it for awhile it works fine. Not really a big issue for me though.

Hollowtek, my lock has come to the point where it does not open or close fully unless done manually. There is a slight movement when I try to lock/unlock with my key alarm and door switch but it's a no go.

I have not took it to a mechanic yet and I have learned to deal with it for now until I can get a friend to look at it or get a trusty mechanic to look at it. More than likely I'm gonna wait 2 weeks to a month from now to get it checked out.

Let me know if the new terminals help. I have the same problem you described, I hear this electrical short with the dome lights sometimes and I have to mess with the wires in the back of the rearview mirror to get them to turn on sometimes, also the Windows and a/c seem to want to drop my rpms but never enough to kill it, and last when I move my side mirrors with the switch I hear this electric noise behind the dash, not sure what it could be.

I will update you guys after I find the problem, I have this feeling that it's the actuator but I'll be for sure when they check it out!

I appreciate this. I'm about ready to tear everything down piece by piece this weekend... There's a thread here that explains how to do it all but the pix links are all broken

I recently replaced the drivers side door actuator motor and it fixed the problem with the door locks, you might wanna go ahead and replace both if you can't tell if either are working. I'm unsure however if it might be a different case since yours was broken into. This is a link to the motor I bought (runs around 10 bucks) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And this is the guide I used to do it,
https://www.club4g.org/board/do-your...-actuator.html
Do note that your replacing the little motor on the inside of the actuator.

Once in a blue moon my passenger door will also do that thing where it just won't open with the key or with the switch on the inside of the door. I'm usually able to open it manually from the inside, and next time I start it it's all fine again. I wouldn't panic and buy the actuator and do the work to replace it unless you really can't open it. At least for me it's just one of those electrical glitches as it works fine 99% of the time.
