hey guys. i was just wandering if anyone has or if its even possible to drop a ls1 or any other V8 in the gt? let me know of any info. much appreciated.
It'd be quite a sight to behold, but you'd have an awfully hard time launching it or getting it around a corner. Would understeer like a giraffe on roller skates.
Ive been looking into the ls4 a little further and found that the 2011 regal 6speed manny will be a perfect manual option for a really wild ride. I see guys do it on fieros and other such fwd or mr2s! wish me luck on wiring
It'll work, and I'll document the whole process on swapping with this car. All around goal to boost an aftermarket in this car and after an LS swap gains traction everyone wants to do that. Definitely a stretch by far, but my pure 19 year old testosterone driven hormones wants Beefy power to my front wheels because that little efficient 4 banger is half of what I want, with nothing much to offer in its own aftermarket due to the fragile mitsubishi engine builds. Not all, but very much so most
I did a swap into a Cutlass. I didn't have to do any transmission stuff, but the wiring isn't too awful. Grab a standalone ECU, it'll help. We used a Silverado ECU
The guy who purchased my first part out shell did so to make a tack Eclipse and use an LS motor. Last I heard, he got it mounted in there and was working on the drivetrain to make it RWD. But this guy had big money. Everything is possible with money
It's uhh, actually cast iron rods and the pistons are also cast. Mind you, for less work you could just do a built motor and turbo setup with better handling. Then could AWD swap for less work too.
There is an LS motor that is meant for FWD. I don't remember which one it is. But it would be a whole lot easier to do that with different trans, than to try and fabricate a trans tunnel and mount a rear wheel drive setup.
