This is where it will start and end, hopefully to the point where I can turn the key and drive it. Please save your criticism for the end I've heard it enough in the past, " You should have bought a GT." Those comments are not welcome here, if you do have something nice to say or a suggestion during the swap - then thanks, I would love to hear it.

I will edit this post to reflect parts obtain/needed and cost, so keep checking for updates. I'll be updating it a little later with parts I know I'm going to need. I will start Post # 2 with pics of the motor that was picked up today.

Originally, the motor was $1245, but when I got there the exhaust manifolds where missing, so they knocked $150 off the price. No big deal as I planned on using Ripp Mods long tubes anyways. As far as the motor goes, it did not come with the starter, power steering pump, alternator/bracket, AC, broken MAP sensor. Some of these things will be donated from the 4g69.

I'm currently prospecting a transmission, plan to purchase within the next couple weeks.

good luck with it man! If you accomplish this, alot of people will be happy...
Im not dissin you, but what was the motivation behind swapping the motor, i know you said transmission, but what prompted the motor swap? just good parts at great prices or?

#12 ·
It was just that combination just as you said it, I'm on my 2nd tranny and I was browsing for a replacement and got caught up looking at GT stuff and prices. Taxes are refunded, so I figured what the hell. I've done several motor swaps in the past for friends, and one for myself on my nissan documented here

Operation Delete 240 insert 180! - S-Chassis.com

Shitz, my new engine cost me $4k !!!
How old / mileage on that engine??

Pat
Motor vintage 2007 with 52k on it, came with a six month warranty. My GS motor has 92k on it, so right there I'm shedding 40k from my engine life.

One thing I learned from buying this motor is that you don't have to pay tax on it if a repair facility buys it from the recycling yard... at least in NY.

Hells yes I'm super excited to see you going through with this. Too bad you cant just nail the engine in and be done with it :p. Gonna be an interesting process for sure

#21 ·
^^^^^ I wonder why the owner didn't keep it , all of that can be buffed out ...

I think it's badass that your swapping out the 4g69 for the 6g75. I'll be watching this closely as it would be a killer swap for the ralliart as well. Keep it up:)

#23 · (Edited)
Im giving you my criticism now. STUPID do a 4g63 swap instead.

However I do think its amazing that you're going through with it and the prices you're getting are killer.

I do believe a 5 speed 3g tranny would be more logical. Mitsu 6 speeds have horrible quality issues. Like previously mentioned the Evo MR 6 speed blows same with our 6sp. 5 speed has more liquid in the transfer case and holds up better.

#27 ·
Seriously? you sir are a dumb ass. The 6g75 is a better motor than the 4g63. And I've had zero problems with my 6 speed. Other than the shit stock clutch it's been nothing short of perfect.
Trevor rock on man. e rep for not just talking about it and actually being about it.

^^^ Thanks guys ^^^

When my bank roll hits may account next friday, I'll be focusing on what I need to get the motor into the car. I'm feeling getting the motor in is going to be the easiest part.. get it running.. not so easy.

Next on my list is Fidanza aluminum flywheel, flywheel bolts, transaxle mount, stay bracket, and cv axles.

Paycheck after that will go towards CM clutch kit, timing belt, tensioner, water pump, KYB struts... at that point, I'll be reviewing my situation and plan to mount the engine/tranny into the car... so we're looking at about five weeks out.

#31 ·
I'm going to start listing prices/places for the parts I still need to buy in the first post, if anyone knows of a better deal elsewhere, please help me out, PM me and give me the heads up.

thanks ya'll

#34 ·
Props for having some balls.

#42 ·
I got to pass on those for now. I'm going to stick with the original plan to get it in and running... once that is done, we are prolly looking at next year for building it up
