Car Start

I have a manual 2009 gs . When I try to turn on the car by turning the key, it sometimes will not turn on. I found that I have to jig the key in the ignition switch or unlock/lock the car using the buttons on the key then dig the clutch back in. Can some one explain why this happens and if it needs a new part?

Also-The battery is in great condition(new-ish), starter is fine,

Thanks in advance yall!

the lights on the dashboard light up and I can lock the doors, move the windows and turn on lights. It just does not click and turn on .

So I try several times and it does turn on cleanly eventually with no struggle

Mine does the same 2007 GS 5 speed

Does it randomly, always thought it was the starter or battery but it's not, I replaced both and periodically still happens
Especially happens when I try to use my remote start

Do yall have a bushing ( plastic rubber black) on the lower clutch arm? That one is torn on my car so i taped electrical tape around it and that was enough space to start the ignition switch relay. It start more frequently now but i ordered a new relay just in case.

It was the selenoid that was burned out (silver thing you stick the key in). Charged me 300$ to replace it and i feel like ive been robbed but I did it anyway

That’s not a solenoid, that the ignition key tumbler switch
Yeah it’ll cost a fortune to replace because you have to rekey it

I have a 2008 GS automatic , same bloody thing . Everything lights up fine but turn it over and it doesn't even try , put a brand new expensive battery in same problem . Mine makes 10 clicking sounds when I power everything up , if I try to start it before it does that or before my touchscreen head unit has loaded up it won't go . If I was 15 seconds for those to cycle it fires up no problem ! No idea why just thought I'd chime in

It’s the starter if you have power, good battery, and just no crank

I was thinking that or possibly the alternator , but why does it start flawlessly everytime as long as I wait for the stereo to turn on ? It did this before any aftermarket stereo components were installed as well

If it’s your alternator and the battery isn’t getting charged, test by charging the battery manually with a charger, starting the car, and see the voltage output on the battery while running, should be like 14v then

This is weird but I think relevant. When I bought my car thy couldn't get it to start. To even get it to turn over you had to jiggle the key in the ignition while turning and it would eventually try to crank. Issue was they used a regular aftermarket key because the original key fob plastic was broken. No chip or anything fired right up with original key and haven't had to jiggle it since then except for the time I tried the extra key again. Back to the jiggle. So maybe the chip in your key has issues? And the jiggling is equivalent to slapping a old TV to get it working for a sec.
