Help! Rpms don't go up when I hit the gas and rough idle

Last night when I parked my eclipse the check engine light came on and it started to idle really rough. Also now nothing happens at all when I hit the gas. I'm gonna borrow a code scanner tonight and check the codes but I didn't know if this was a common issue. I suspect maybe the mass airflow sensor because when I bought the car the air filter and front duct were missing so maybe something got sucked in there and damaged the maf. I cleaned it and couldn't see anything in there but maybe I missed it. Anyone else ever have this problem?

pcfreak4 has a spectacular aura about
I’d be more worried than something damaging just the MAF if u believe something big and metal got sucked past your intake cause it’d be in your engine

Anyway, no response to your throttle pedal? Maybe your throttle position sensors are out, u need a scan tool to get these codes from the computers

Thanks for the reply, I posted more info under the problem reports section because I realized this post probably should have gone there but I checked the codes tonight and did a little troubleshooting. If you don't mind taking a look at that post and letting me know if you have any suggestions I really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Mike

It's also possible it's throttle body related. It'll idle rough and do nothing with the throttle body unplugged. I did that by mistake once, lol.

Might wanna post that on his other post before he goes putting in a new PCM and then dealing with the disaster that will ensue with all of that

I told him to check the throttle position sensors on the pedal with the procedure in the FSM first but he’s going straight for a PCM
