Ebay cold air intake

Has anyone put a generic cai from ebay in the 2.4l and if so how did it fit and does it cause any cel codes? I can't afford the DC sports one yet. I was looking at the one I attached the pics from

Don’t use that

Rule of thumb, don’t use any parts from eBay for your car, minor exception is if it’s some obscure OEM part u need

Anyway, just get the DC Sports CAI off amazon or some place, it’s the one made for this car

Won't work without a tune. 2.75" is what you need to be a bolt on. There's also nowhere for the MAF sensor to mount to on that one.

General rule, it's hard to do an intake pipe wrong. But this one is wrong. I'm of the opposite belief of Kyle, eBay stuff can be just fine, so long as it's the right part. Eg, I could stick that intake on my Audi, and it would work perfectly fine. But it won't on this platform.

Thank you both for the replies. I guess I'll spend the extra for the DC Sports CAI, I have read that there are issues with possible hydrolock if you install it the way it's made, would it be better to get that protective cover for the air filter or shorten it like someone else on here suggested and have the air filter up top, he said you just have to buy 1 more coupler and do some modding. Any advice? I do drive through a lot of water with the crappy roads here so the hydrolock is a huge concern

Thanks,
Mike

I have mine with an Injen hydro shield on it in Ohio driven year round and never got worried about hydro lock, you literally have to drive underwater for that to happen, and if u do get close to a big puddle, just let off the accelerator

The only ever confirmed hydrolock was someone trying to use power and RPM to get his way out of a flooded road.

I've had mine literally underwater and had no issues. It'll stall when water hits the MAF sensor, so there's incredibly low risk of engine damage
