Cold air intake fitment

I'm trying to buy a cai for 08 GS Automatic , literally every site Ive shopped will only allow me to select the short ram for an automatic . . . Is this just with Injen intakes ? I can find long ones from DC sports that say they fit with my automatic . Is there something I'm missing here ? Shipping times are ridiculous so I wanna get it ordered but I don't wanna pick the wrong one .

Ok , the DC is a lot cheaper so I don't mind that . Was having trouble even finding one because only the short rams show up for automatics . Have to select manual to get the long one .

Now I'm reading on the DC one , every single review says you either need to cut it shorter , buy an elbow piece , or cut out your housing for fog lights , people showed pictures of their hydroshield ripped to shreds from rubbing there . . .

Amazon is the only place I can find one that ships to Canada and they want $400 . Sounds a little steep ? Most comments said they paid $140

08 has the old bumper

09+ has the new style fog lights that’s why it might not fit properly

You guys have so much knowledge it blows my mind lol . Well that's good , mine definitely doesn't have the fog lights . So $400 is way too much then , it's the only one I can find that's in stock and ships to Canada . . . The next cheapest were $323+$80 shipping , and $278+$292 shipping ! The 3 other places I found are all out if stock with no eta on restock

Seems to be a real pain in the ass trying to get anything in Canada . The Tdot place has good prices and shipping but don't carry anything other than a filter for a GS

I ran the DC sports on an 09 bumper. Don't worry about it. You really don't need to even do up the bolt for the bracket. It'll just lean against the fog light housing.

Ya I saw pictures of some people that had it on an 09 and their hydro shield was ripped to pieces . I'm sure it'll be all good . Finally got the DC one ordered from eBay $160 US plus $20 shipping + $17 Import/Duty fee . August 1st delivery 🙂 Do you guys recommend the hydro shield ? I do live in BC , technically a rain forest lol .

Well the DC is on its way , should be here August 1st 🙂 Paid $265 CAD including $35 shipping and $17 duty . Watched a few install vids and looks pretty simple . Silly question but I didn't notice in the videos , do you need to put the factory filter box and resonator back or can you leave it out ? I was thinking of removing that cover where the fog light housing would be too just to allow more air in , but that would probably allow more water/moisture in as well right ? Kind of a direct path to the filter 😕

Pretty sure no room for box on install. I kept resonator as a dust cover just got a expansive plug at autozone for $2 to plug the hole. I have the DC intake with a tune by stayer, Rre headers, under drive pulley, and a magnaflow exhaust. I wouldn't do cutouts if you need more air try the GT throttle body, but then you worry about spacers and fitment to CAI.

You remove them

And removing the fog light bezel just seems like a recipe for shit to get onto the filter without any power gains. If you wanted high pressure air, place it in front of the radiator. Even then, you may only see a few horsepower at top speed. Ram air designs are quite poor.

I will just put it where it's designed to go and leave the fog light cover 🙂

Which magnaflow do you have on yours ? I don't know what my options are or specs for fitment . Thinking of having the exhaust done while I'm waiting for the headers and cai .

And my 3rd cat is also garbage , so if I have them remove it do I just need to get a straight pipe and muffler ? And they can connect the headers later when they show up ?

I'm not sure the exact model muffler I have, nor would I suggest it without a turbo.

Your options are huge, as it's 2 1/8" pipe stock. You can go a bit bigger, 2.25" will weld on without much difficulty too. Just single in, single out, offset or center work.

If your search exhausts there is only one that is designed for our make and model. Its a 2.5" catback.

Weird , when I search on carid.com there's like 90+ that say they fit 08 Eclipse . Some are just mufflers some are full exhaust . I don't want catback or anything to do with cats lol . Just headers , pipe , and something on the end that sounds good 🙂

Last question about the CAI , i don't know how sensitive these are to water , ive never used automated car washes but I can still use the wand wash right ? Just be mindful of that front bumper area ?
