poor soul ..but at least its better now ..dont get discouraged,i had to stick a screw driver in my oem one the first time as well.once i seen that the only thing the screw driver was doing was tearing up the filter,i stopped and went and bought oil filter pliers.i only put them on hand tight.you shouldnt have any more problems if you put the next one on hand tight.good luck

I'm sorry but as I read this and imagined all of this happening I rofled. This was entertaining. But hey, you're an awesome gal for changing the oil yourself!! Like everyone has said; the first time for ANYTHING is always tough but afterwards it gets easy and even enjoyable! So don't be discouraged. Hopefully you paid attention to every step in this process and now you'll save 50-100 dollars on your oil change! Plus you did it yourself and you can trust yourself to care about your car! YAY!!

*Waits for Pat to play on the hidden pervy joke in that post*

Dont remember is it this weekend or in two weeks but harbor tools will have torque wrench on sale for 9.99 Valued 35. Im getting one finally.

Regards taking the filtrr of I used couple time screw driver cause i had no other tool to remove it. Just poke throuth with it and unscrew the filter. Messy job, lots of possibility for stuff go wrong but works. Lol

This how-to is written simply for reference only. Perform these steps at your own risk and use common sense. The author will not be responsible for any ill-effects (if any) if you make a mistake somewhere during the process.

Tools Needed:

1) 17mm socket or closed-ended wrench

2) oil filter wrench

3) jack and jack stands

4) oil catch-pan

5) shop rags

Steps:

1) Carefully jack up your vehicle on the jack-up point just behind the passenger-side front wheel, under the passenger-side door.

ok done

2) Secure the vehicle on jack-stands, never hold up the vehicle on the hydraulic jack alone.

ok done

3) Remove the oil-filler cap and the engine oil dipstick.

so the car doesnt have to be on right now?? the manual says:

4) Turn the oil drain plug counter-clockwise using the 17mm wrench.

so turn it just enough so oil comes out, dont remove it all the way??

5) Turn the oil filter counter-clockwise using the oil filter wrench.

6) Let the oil drain thoroughly before reinstalling the oil drain plug and a new oil filter.

7) If you are replacing the oil filter (as recommended), you will need approx. 4.5 quarts of oil. The recommended oil viscosity is 5W-20. If you are not replacing the oil filter, you will need approx 4 quarts.

8) Reinstall the oil filler cap and dipstick.

9) Run the engine for about 5 minutes. Then shut it off and wait for a few minutes before checking the oil level on the dipstick. The oil should be somewhere in between the 2 dots on the dipstick. Also, check the oil filter and drain plug for leaks.

u dont have to remove fill cap or dipstick take out drain plug let it drain replace drain plug remove filter replace with new one fill with oil crank few times to cycle oil and ur good to go car doesnt have to run cuz oil will be hot and its burns
