best first purchases for cheap horsepower

i was wondering what everyone thought would b the best first couple things to buy for an o6 eclipse gt for horsepower. obviously u could go out and spend a ton of money on turbos and bigger cams and stuff like that, but what is some good, cheaper parts that really make a difference? a performance chip maybe? cold air intake? i have a slip on exhaust on it right now and thats it, let me kno im kind of in the dark on this one, thanks

synthetic will become famous soon enough
cold air intake, headers (rre shorties or longtubes from obx) and a full exhaust from there. then you can look at the AEM F/IC or the reflash from hackish, but that's probably 1200$-ish in parts...
there is a performance build thread here: https://club4g.org/board/eclipse-perf...g-eclipse.html

which should have most of the information on parts and may help you make a decision on what route you want to take.

oh, also use the search function, nearly everything you want to look for will be here.

Cheap, fast, reliable. You only get to choose 2. Take a look around the performance section. I'm sure you're an awesome guy but no one is gonna jump through hoops to supply you an answer to a question that has been answered 1000 times. Go on an adventure through the forums to see the many wonders of your car. Exploring is half the fun so dont let us spoil it for you. I'm baffled that you know what performance parts are expensive but you don't know what basic performance mods are less expensive. Anyways.... best of luck with your build.

"best", "first", and "cheap" are all subjective terms but WTTC anyways.

Also check the Eclipse GT section and you can choose what is "best" or what is "cheap" for your first mod. The basic gist of the matter is look for I/H/E (ie. Intake Header Exhaust) threads and forums specific to suspension.

^^ true,

suspension mods are where i pretty much started. i did the injen cai first.
then this year i did lowering springs, front and rear sway bars, stiffy, motor mount bushings, strut tower bar, and underbrace bar.

sure makes it stiff but damn does grip like crazy

If it's cheap, it is not worth buying. Save up for some well made modifications. Just keep in mind to increase horsepower output of your engine with bolt on parts, think about how you can make the engine breath easier. Start with a cold air intake, that's usually the first mod everyone goes with, then start looking at looking for an axle-back exhaust to get a less restrictive muffler.

09Eclipse made a great thread that we stickied at the top of this forum with a complete list of known parts available: https://club4g.org/board/4g-eclipse-g...ds-thread.html

Just tread carefully with parts on EBay, sometimes if you go cheap, you'll end up paying more in the end.

You never said what you considered cheep. The first things I did to my 06 were - Outlaw Spacers, pulstar plugs and CAI. The car had 70,000 miles and needed plugs. As I was already pulling manifold might as well do the spacers. The CAI was a want to. Within a week I installed a header back exhaust. Total for upgrades to that point was under $400. Now I went cheep route on CAI and exhaust. The exhaust from ebay has been awsome and was simple bolt in. The ebay CAI sucked. I ended modifying to a SRI and installing a K&N for another $40.

I have not dynoed it and I'm sure the better exhausts will perform better. But for the price I am very happy. Those that have seen and heard my car will confirm it runs and sounds great.
