Yeah, I read a lot of reviews and talked to my tint/car stereo installer friend again and he talked me into the avh-nex4500w which supports wireless android auto. He ordered it for me at cost (about $480) so I hope it's as good as he says (that's a lot more than I planned on spending).
Thanks for the props though, it's been a lot of work but it's a labor of love.
Still lots more coming in the next couple of months, this corona thing has kind of slowed down my progress (I've had to spend much of my free time revamping my home office for working from home).

Attack of the ants!!!

So, about a week ago I washed my car (it was filthy) and put a new car cover on it to keep it clean until a good day to wax it came along. I went out to take it for a Sunday afternoon drive today and when I opened the driver side door this is what I was greeted with...

For whatever reason, an entire nest of ants had deposited their eggs / larvae in the gap in my driver door.

Here's another view (they were, of course, alive until I nuked them with bug spray)...

and a close up...

Fortunately, they don't appear to have breached the cabin (even though the weather seal right above that spot is torn and I haven't replaced it yet.

I've never seen anything like that. Just thousands of eggs and ants. Even now, I've got hundreds of live ants lost going all over the shell of my car. I've taken off the cover and moved the car so no new ones can't come back up the tire and join the marooned ones. Just bizarre.

My new stereo is supposed to be here in about two weeks.

On a good note, there's a new Mitsubishi dealership in my town!! I'm going to try to find out if I can still claim my dash recall / replacement. I don't think there's a expiration on car recalls. That would sure be cool and save me a lot of work!

Well, I had read there was one somewhere but a search of recalls doesn't list it, plus i read last night there is a 10 year statute of limitations on recalls after initial purchase, so guess not.

No dash recall

Recalls were:
Brake recall, master cylinder
Brake recall, booster
Fuel tank straps
ABS recall

https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2006/M...DR/FWD#recalls

Maybe what u saw was a TSB, not recall, TSBs are covered under warranty for free and are common issues the manufacturer is aware of, you’ll be paying for those fixes outside of warranties, only recalls are free

A recall is typically safety related as deemed by the government or manufacturer, a TSB is just a common problem
