My Ride "OZ"

So this is the place to put information about my 4g. After owning a 2nd generation 1999 - 10th anniversary edition Eclipse Spyder for a little while, I decided to look into a 3rd Generation 2003 GTS. Stepping up to the 3.0L V6 with a manual transmission was a blast. Scratching my head I knew I needed to go to the 4th Generation 3.8L GT. So looking started and I found this 2007 GT.

3/16/18

Bone Stock except for Halo Headlights and LED Taillights.

I guess this is where the fun begins.

Yes it was, but it has the stock 2.0L engine in it so I sold it to my sister. It only has about 80k original miles on it today.

So, First Thing's First

There was a couple maintenance issues with the car.

1) The TCL OFF and ANTILOCK break (car skidding) lights came on when driving home. Also I could not set the cruise control. I could turn it on and the light came on, but it would not hold the speed when I tried to set it. After a couple days of searching the net for similar problems, I found the solution here on Club4g. Here it is:

https://club4g.org/board/electronics/...off-light.html

And here is a video by member OrangeDemon
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVhc302ib8U

This save me a lot of time and expense.

2) After becoming a member, I realized how important it was to make sure the Timing Belt does not have more that 60k miles on it. So I ordered the kit with the belt, water pump, tensioner, pulleys, cam & crank seals. And made a appointment to have the work done. UGH! Two weeks. I haven't drove it since. Should be done at the beginning of next week.

3) While waiting to take her into the shop, I decided to change the plugs and adjust the valves. This was a weekend project and kept me from being tempted to take her out for a spin.

Here is a video of replacing the plugs (Thanks again OrangeDemon).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYCLZ636_fw

And here is a link to adjusting the valves, thanks 360jeepboy (et.al.)
https://club4g.org/board/maintenance/...djustment.html

4) I also have the SES light on for O2 sensors. I tried the spark-plug foulers to space the O2 sensor out but it didn't work for me. It got a different code, P0157, I'll post the results on the O2 sensor thread to see if anyone else had the same problem. I was going to put headers on, but with a very good possibility that emission testing will be coming to the county I live in, I think I may just gut the cats as since they will need to be replaced anyway if/when emission testing does come here.

Now I'm waiting to get the timing belt done .......

Waiting for timing belt to get done on mine too. Brought it to a friends shop and he's going to give me the homie discount on the procedure but we just gotta schedule a date when his shop can do it. Might be 2-3 weeks out.
Been using my wife's Kia Soul as much as possible for the time being lol.

Never knew about the TCL and cruise control problem with the 4g's. Is that common?

Just got the car back today all done for $300 in labor. Which was ok with me. Less would have been better but that wasn't bad. Be sure to get the kit with all the extra parts. Belt, tensioner, pulleys, crank and cam seals and water pump. With all the info on here, prob could've done it myself but just no time and better if ya got a friend there to help (which I didn't). That's cool you do. The belt and the parts that came off were in good shape, but didn't know that until after it was done and there was no info if/when it was ever done before. Will post some pics.

The TCL lights and cruise control issues were caused by the previous owner installing after market LED tail lights. So it's not an issue if you have stock tail lights or the resistors where installed with the after market tail lights.

Some assembly required ....

So I finally finished assembling my stock 4g GT. It's been bothering me that the window trim on the drivers side, small front window was never assembled correctly. If you look at the pic's you'll see the tab sticking out. Turns out the trim piece just pop's out. So ... Some assembly required and is now complete. lol

Today I got the spark plug fouler drilled and put on the rear cat. Cleared the O2 sensor code and so far so good, but takes a while for the SES light, so I'll wait and see. Hope it does stay off, that way I'll be in good shape for the cat delete (coming soon).

So after, decided to giver 'er the hand wash and wax.

Thanks. Yeah, for that price I would done that same and made or found time to do it myself. I would have rather have done it myself (that way you don't find out later it's a tooth off or something - lol, sorry had to say it). But I trust this guy. I don't think this car had ever been waxed before, started off feeling like waxing a sidewalk but now smooth as glass.

Wanting to all the maintenance caught up before doing any mods. I think the only thing left to do is the flushing the transmission. I'll have to look back over the preventative maintenance schedule but I think I'm almost there.

About, the rear O2 sensor.
1) When I was messing around with the rear downstream sensor before, I already had the intake plenum off. It was very easy to get to reach. Trying to get to it with the plenum in place, darn near impossible. I was thinking "I'm going to have to take that plenum off again to be able to reach it, BECAUSE THE STRUT BRACE IS IN THE WAY. Just take off the strut brace. That worked great.
2) Bosch sensor have a diameter bigger than 1/2 inch. So if you have a Bosch O2 sensor drilling out the spark plug fouler is not an option. I dug out the old (original) O2 sensor I had and perfect fit. I couldn't figure out why the Bosch O2 sensor wouldn't begin to thread into the drilled spark plug fouler. The drilled hole wasn't (and can't be) drilled big enough to fit the Bosch O2 sensor.
