Ok so I have been avoiding this because my engine bay is a hot mess:noplease:, and the car is nowhere close to being finished. Plus I still consider myself pretty new here, but it's time I make a thread about my ride so I can update it along the way.:runaway:

A short history about my vehicle, it is a 2006 Eclipse GS with the sound package. I purchased it around June 2010 used with 58,000 miles on it. Before me the car had two previous owners but they seemed to take good care of it. When I picked up the car it already had the windows tinted and a riced out muffler on it. Nothing else about the car had been modified. I really didnt change a single thing on this car till the end of Feb. 2011 that is when the fun started.

Here is a list of mods and what I can think of so far that has to do with this car. I will slowly update this list as I begin to add more and creep towards a more finished product. A few side notes I would like to share is I dont have a muffler rite now, just the downpipe all the way to the rear wheels, I just need 2-3 feet of exhaust piping and a I can begin the welding process for the finished exhaust. Also all of this work was done 100% by me and my room mate. Car has never been to a shop under my ownership for anything.

Here is a link to my Build Thread to go into more specific Install talk/pictures http://club4g.org/board/gs/20871-project-turbo-gs-lots-pictures.html

Yeah man it was nuts... My radiotor fan is about to K/O on me it keeps melting :/

Oh bit some good news, I put my car in the shop on Tuesday it's official. I'll get quoted on an estimate and then it will take about 2/3 weeks to fix. After that it's back to modding!!! :D

I'm getting ready to buy and fab up my piping. I will be buying this kit, (link below) and I'm trying to find out if it will be enough.

My thinking is a 45 coming out of the compressor into a 75 then 2 90's to go around the bend then a straight into the IC.

On the cold side I will use my Fujita CAI from TB down (will have a BOV flange welded on to it) then use a 90 3" to 2.5" reducer, use a joiner to a 90 coupler into a straight to IC.

My concern is mainly from compressor to going around the bend. looking at your pics our turbos sit in about the same spot except your sits about an inch both tighter and lower than my set up. What I'm asking if you can do a cpl measurements from compressor to around the bend.

Thanks,

This kit is gonna look sick with the black Mishimoto Intercooler that I scored on a cpl weeks ago.

What kinda dimensions would you like from me... The bend angles? Or how big the pipes are, not all of the pipes are the same size I had to find some scrap IC pipe from my friend, thats one of my next big things to upgrade all of the IC pipe so its brand new and the same size and upgrade my tbolts and couples.

Would you like a video walk around?

What I'm looking for is the length down along the radiator, and around the bend hotside to IC.

Hotside coming out of Turbo (which is between both radiator fans)

More hotside now beside the belts about to do a 180 turn to the front mount

Hotside into intercooler

The other insurance company claim rep went on vacation wedding for 2 weeks, then I was under investigation for fraud. And now its july 4th weekend so I cant get shit done till tuesday and everything else has been a big mess... I have really bad luck joey. Just last weekend I was at a stoplight and I hear screeching brakes and a car almost slams into my rear end behind me he has to pull off into the grass to prevent himself from hitting me. I didnt stop short or anything it was just a driver not paying attention, I mean shit.. I have so much I can do to it rite now but idk... im in a slum -_- I havent had any serious work or updates in a few weeks:noplease:

Like the gloss over the plasidip....glowing manifold for a car running unless then 10 is very bad. Youre cat shouldn't be running anywhere near that hot no matter how hard your driving it. You're lucky you aren't getting preignition with that abs blew a piston. That's fucking hot man. When's the last tune you got a tune? What A/F are you running?

As far as a messed under the hood, change all the blue to black and put the engine cover back on. I'm not why everyone takes them off, the whole point of it is to make it look cleaner....

I am running rich at low rpms, I started to trim back on the fuel levels a little bit I just honestly mite 0 them out under non boost. Also with the old innovate wideband hooked was the last time I truly tuned it, and that was before both suto accidents its been about 2 months which sounds really bad but consider I have driven the car for 2 weeks out of those 2 months I honestly have had a full mess of things happen not just to my car but dished out in life so the whole project took a serious back seat, im going to be getting things back into motion soon. Clean the engine bay up, paint some things, tweak the tune, and get a better wideband that can datalog with my FIC. as for the glowing manifold thats good to know that it shouldnt do that, im going to check on my timing and misfire codes I am throwing and start to pick away at is over the weekends.

and why is what purple, the glowing manifold... if thats what your talking about I honestly have no idea lol.

#125 ·
I don't remember if I ever saw Leet's in person, but Acer's is the first that comes to mind. That one glowed a bit after some hard pushing. Only the manifold though, not the turbo itself from what I remember, and not very much either.

So yea, El, I'd recommend checking engine bay temps for sure and maybe invest in some radiators and fans just as a precaution. It would be a shame if anything were to happen to your build!

oh man glowing headers means SERIOUS heat........good god bro you must be spooling up and I mean with a vengeance. SC comes no where near that level of fusion/fission/atomic powerhouse of an engine. respect, bro.

So I did some much need maintenance on my car during this lovely weekend. I now have over 8,000 miles on my Turbo :D so I decided to take it out and inspect how everything is going inside the little snail. Also during that time I replaced my Turbo Manifold Gasket, if any of you remember my old one popped a month or two back and my quick fix was to get some more bolts pull the old gasket out so I have been driving my car without the gasket and losing about a good 1/2 lbs but I just used it to get to work in back, knowing the job would take all day I had no time...

everything looked good when I pulled it out and the internals of the Turbo were pretty clean.

It took a good hour and a half just to pull it out, here is a picture of how my exhaust elbow is routed because many people have asked.

I had to re thread the Manifold bolt holes one size up because the threads were shot, but since its cast iron that wasnt a problem. I replaced it with a brand new T3 gasket and used grade8 screws and red Thread lock this time... its not coming out again. Upon further inspection what made my old gasket pop was a bolt came loose from vibration (ruining all the threads) and resulting in the popped gasket.

Since this is the last time I am going to take all of this shit out for a long time (because it was a pain in the ass to get back in) I decided to snap a picture of the serial tag since one or two of you I remember from a long time ago asked for

I've been gone for a while and I plan on staying "gone" it has nothing to do with any of you or this site. Its just better this way, i'll be back when I am. bye

Hey Trevin would you be interested in a new cam as well for that build you have there

#137 ·
No I still drive it every day, I have just hit a standstill on modding, as much as I enjoy doing it I got waaay to tied up into it. I'm taking a break from all of it until 4-6 months down the road, the holiday season is coming up and my family and friends are whats important so I need to start saving. I'm happy with what I have, even though I dont have a dyno i'll call it between 225-250 and i'm quite content with that. Also when I posted on here my work performance and grades dropped, and this is one of the reasons. I dont plan on posting here (or on any of the other forums I was on) for quite some time.

Well this group buy may not go down till next year during income tax season
My rebuild is what my tax return is set aside for, pistons/rods/valve springs. Im actually done spending money on this car their are other things in life that have caught my interest. i'll consider the cams but if it runs fine without them, i'm pretty sure I wont want to spend 400/600$ on them
