There is actually an Evo VIII running 900whp but not on a 4g69
Very cool! I wonder what all is under the hood.

I understand people have a very strong affinity for I4s and, while I do agree they can be great in some vehicles, that simply isn't the case for ours. Our car is just far too heavy to warrant an I4. There's no replacement for displacement. You can hoot n holler all day about how the 4g69 will be amazing with "the right upgrades" but if you apply those same "right upgrades" to the 6g75 theres simply no comparison. Mitsubishi designed the GS model with daily driver in mind. Sure it has a little bit of kick but its not meant to be used as a "racing" engine like other I4s.

To the same degree, I will never be able to upgrade my GT to surpass an upgraded Mustang GT, at least in terms of straight on speed. While I don't care for mustangs, the fact of the matter is they're simply faster. And a corvette faster than that. And a lambo faster than that. The list goes on. Thats just how the car world works. Theres always going to be a car faster, so be happy with what you got.

I'm interested in this evo you speak of running 900whp on a 4g69, and would like a source on that. I am a man of science and fact, so I'm not beside admitting I'm wrong if the facts are there. However, at the end of the day, we all drive 4G's, and thats what matters

There is actually a 900 whp evo out there using a 4g69... As far as cost goes there is no turbo kit made for the eclipse.. There is one for the 4g69 but it's for a different model mitsubishi and does not correct fit a 4g if you do a lot of the work yourself it could be done as cheap as 3000-3500... If your not capable of doing the work yourself it will closer to 5000-6000... Internals are gonna cost around 1000 in materials and again if you can do the work yourself that's about all you will spend if not that price will at least double for parts and install

Desert Rat There is no replacement for displacement!

A turbo'd 4cyl will produce only a little bit more HP than a stock GT will. Most of the guys who turbo their GS do it because they like their car, don't want to trade up, and/or like the lower cost of maintenance. The GS is far cheaper to maintain in terms of replacement parts, fluids, and even gas, but the cost to turbo will be the same.

In my opinion, I'd say trade up to a GT and go from there. The cost to turbo + fabricate said turbo is going to be in the $6000 range (from what I've heard) and if you're going to invest that much time and effort, you might as well get the performance model. but I'm a little biased. Really, at the end of the day, do what you want to do Its your car, after all. Plenty of 4Gers have turbo'd their GS, I'm sure plenty more 3Gers have too.

It's worth it if you are happy with it. I'd suggest starting with a larger displacement motor though
