Dentdude Here is a clearer photo of the spoiler delete cover

Steve_06_Ark I used nightshades plastic tint (you can pick it up at AutoZone) on the outside of mine. I just sprayed it lighter on the edge than the top/bottom and it turned out nice.
I sprayed an expensive clear coat over it but I don't think I roughed it enough first and it's started to flake. I'll re-spray it once the weather warms up again and I expect that will take care of it.

The nice thing about tinting it, instead of painting, is you can control how dark it gets. You could mask off the 3rd light but I hid an LED flow strip inside mine, so my goal was to hide that during the day.

It's a bit tricky taking it apart and getting it back together. It's surprisingly flimsy once you get the shell apart. You'll also need to reseal it when you put it back together and probably put a silicon seal on the gap when you re-install, just to be safe. Water getting inside is what killed mine, and I cracked it trying to take it apart the 2nd time. Be careful, it only took 1 second of being distracted for mine to crack.

Good luck, I think tinted/deleted looks way better than the clear/chrome look it came with stock.

Salo_ Oh that looks good. I’m gonna look into that.

Dentdude Photos kinda suck but the cover looks great and fits perfect

Salo_ Oh I see, I might just paint the inside and put a UV resistant clear coat.

Sabertooth^2 Mine is cracked to hell. I had tinted it initially, but at this point, it's faded and cracked, and I'll probably just paint it this summer with alkyd paint

Salo_ Yeah definitely post a picture.

Salo_ Oh I see what you mean. Did you paint the in side with it?

Dentdude I went ahead and ordered the spoiler delete cover in black to go over the third brake light, it will be here tomorrow I’ll post a photo after I install it

Sabertooth^2 It's whatever you want it to be paint. But it's highly resistant, like the urethane paints they use on cars now anyway. I like it way more than any "automotive" paint I've used

Salo_ Isn’t that like hardware paint?

Sabertooth^2 If you paint the inside, any cracking will show

If you paint the outside, you need to use a paint that resists chipping, and also make sure it bonds well to plastics. I'm a huge fan of alkyd paints for that after having repainted my daily last summer. Not one chip yet, and it mostly held up to someone hitting my car in a parking lot too (minor scratch, even though the fender was bent right in)

Plus you can get a pint of it for about $10

Third brake light

So I went to the junkyard, got the third brake light for 20$. The one I have currently is cracked. So I want to black it out but not sure if I should take it a part, and just that tint spray or pasti dip the inside and masking off the light. What’s the best way of keeping it black and looking good?
