Kevin99 Man I just changed mine an had the same issue the wheel hub bearing is seized to the CV joint I used a big puller an snapped it I ended up pulling the CV joint an taking it out as one an then I used a hydraulic press an torched the shit out of it ended up burning the plastic that held the bearings together so had to buy new wheel hub same cv joint though

Smokeynbandit I never got it loose just wouldn’t budge I haven’t disassembled the shock portion to the hubs so that’s probably why I need to take it off and get a sledgehammer to it it’s completely rusted stuck

TwilsonD7 I did mine a few years ago. Rotors were rusted to the hubs. I use a impact tool remove the axle nuts and took all the threads with it. Lots of on blaster. Need to to hammer on the axle. Take the 4 bolts off the rear side and smash the hell out of them with a sledge hammer. I then powder coated the knuckles and everything else on the front end.

Shizahoffa I just changed mine like last week. All I did was take the rotor off, take off the two bolts holding it to the suspension, take off the axel nut and pull the axel out from the rotor and set it aside or propped up, then take off the 4 or 6 bolts from behind where the rotor was. The hub can then be pulled out from the back and swapped in as a whole.

Smokeynbandit Will these work to remove the hub assembly ? I found these in my shop and is there any clips on the backside of the bearing or should it just pop out banging on it loosens nothing I have different sizes just didnít know if Iím doing something wrong.

Smokeynbandit After looking into it it’s the axle itself that would have to be replaced since the nut wont have threads , it doesn’t appear to be holding much but the axle in place but not sure �� so I’m assuming it needs replaced being stripped. Just goes further than intended may be best to just let someone else who had done axles ect do it. I don’t have but a couple days I can keep it in my garage anyway gotta pull the mower out by next week and doesn’t look like I’m being successful. I let the penetrating oil set for awhile hit the axle in alil but to be sure it’s free but the hub is in there would have to remove the whole piece the shock connects to just to hammer it out from the back. Then comes the axle deal not sure if they just slide in or not and don’t want to get that far and be another crazy issue lol if I knew the other side wouldn’t be the same pain I might would try but at this point it’s like damned if I do damned if I don’t.

Smokeynbandit Hahaha yep that’s why I’m asking. After I remove the hub which I haven’t yet freed in order to replace the shaft what’s needed for that do I need a spring compressor to remove the whole thing or will it be more complex like need a whole new linkage to engine ect? I haven’t bothered removing rubber boots yet as I’m not there yet. I’m limited on tools we have a lot of crap but nothing special for this car apparently. I’ll have to borrow my dads torch probably if banging it don’t remove the hub. It went from something simple to a pain in the butt. I’ve got both front sides of hubs so if I can get past this side I should be good.

Smokeynbandit Yea that’s what I have the full hub assembly but will have to replace the hub main nut and shaft also what would be my best solution for those I was unaware of that til I began removing everything and noticed it was stripped down to 4 remaining threads on that has really been issue after issue with the hubs lol I thought I’d pop it off and pop it in and put back together didn’t think I’d be replacing so many bent bolts ect due to a bad hub. This is the same side my girl hit a ditch on so it may be something with that also

Ready made hubs will have the bearing already installed

Smokeynbandit Yeanoticed the large nut and threads were stripped before I tried taking it off saw it on the inside of the nut. anyway so Iíll be replacing that also just canít get it to budge tho. May have to drive it somewhere just thought I could handle it being the new bearings looked easy to get in do they need pressing in? Or just slide in and bolt?

Sabertooth^2 Heat and an air hammer if you haven't got a puller and a way to grab it.

If you don't have those options either... A bigger hammer and be prepared to replace more parts

Wheel bearing replacement help

Trying to remove wheel hub and bearing to replace got all bolts out but hub is basically stuck Iíve tried penetrating oil and hammering to no luck what can I do to remove this without getting a shop to do it? Should I just keep hammering it it hasnít even broke a crack in between the two pieces otherwise Iíd wedge a flat head and pry it just spent a hr or so hammering and spraying oil thinking itíd budge
