Daughter's 1st car shopping

I had no intention of car shopping for my daughter, (15), for another year or so, if at all, then I found this.

Anyone here familiar with this engine and possible upgrade paths?

jk. I might end up spending more on mods for this than my 4G. I test drive this weekend.

Funny you mention it, I actually DO know a thing or two about the 4G69 and upgrading cars with them.

Total trash, scrap the car. Anything with a 4G69 is garbage. Easy to boost, good fuel economy, easy to work on, cheap car for parts... Yeah, none of that is what you'll want for her first car. /sarcasm

You COULD get yourself a GS. It's like that lancer, except it has a stiffer chassis and is wider, as well as massive aero advantages on the 4g over the lancer.

Nope. Never heard of 4G69 engine. Lol! Im confused tho. 5 speed manual with overdrive? Other than that it's a good car for any teen.

Right?! I think a GS would probably be safer too with that fat chassis we have, tho the Lancer has same HP and is like 500lbs lighter. My wife had a 2004 RA Sportback and we LOVED it. Build quality is on par with the 4G, both totally reliable and easy to work on.

The overdrive on 5th gear? I'm curious about that as well.

The Ralliart aftermarket parts at RRM make the GT aftermarket support look depressing.

4th and 5th are both overdrive

Also, 300lbs not 500lbs.

As for safety, the 4G is probably safer. I'm unsure of the ratings, but the 4G has more crumple area, and more material between you and the road for sure.

Oh, ok. I was gonna dismiss it as a mess up on the dealer's end as i once found a 9th gen Civic SI with an automatic transmission. 😏 imagine that...

By either definition of overdrive, 5th is (it's above the top speed, as well as by the definition of being geared so the wheels turn more than once per engine rotation).

4th is an overdrive by the second definition only. It would be quite upsetting if the car topped out in 4th with that gearing
