Hey, I am new to all of this, just picked up an 06 GS last week. I was wondering if just putting a blockoff plate between the resonator and intake would work without having to pull the resonator itself? I want to give this a shot but if it doesn't help, be able to restore it back without all the extra work. Mechanically adept but ever so short on time...

Why wouldn't you just take it off all the way? That thing is ugly. Lol. Be sides, unless you have a plate that's like 5mm thick but still durable... I don't think it'll fit because of how the resonater fits in there.

Or it is possible to find some cheap >$100 04 Lancer Ralliart manifold. That's what I had on mine for a while. bolts right up only need to extend the wires for MAP sensor, egr valve, and I think evap purge solenoid. No resonator port, larger plenum, and I believe it also had slightly longer runners.

How did you mount your catch can like that.

Just did this yesterday. Very fun project, especially if you aren't a gearhead. Took me about 4 hours to do, but an hour and a half was wasted by my dad and his friend wanting to take a hacksaw to the resonator since we could easily reach the bottom 2 bolts. In the end we went through the guide step by step but they swear that they could've just cut it out and maneuvered it around the wires and fuel rail...better to be safe than sorry, especially since it isn't their car!

I also forgot to reinstall the clip (red tab) to the fuel rail before cranking...lost a decent amount of fuel and melted the clear coat protectant on the garage floor...so be sure to double check everything before you fire it back up

I did this yesterday after work in the shop. It took me about 30 minutes. Very simple mod but made a noticeable difference. I love all the great info on this site.

Seems like a lot of work for a few decibels. I removed the resonator on my V6 (post filter, pre TB) and noticed nothing. No power, no sound. At least it was easy though (took 5 minutes, used an old lightbulb socket to plug the hole)

I was looking to do this delete until I saw that lancer ralliart intake manifold. I may look into this. If anyone has anymore information, I would greatly appreciate it.

Not that i'm lazy, I am but thats not the point, could I leave the resonator in the engine bay but still install the flange? I honestly don't want to screw anything up by fooling with the fuel rail

Whew, done, Didn't take an hour, I even managed to get the old resonator out without removing the fuel line, but I don't recommend it lol

No, I'm not an animal lol, I just pulled the rail to the side a bit, and wiggle the resonator out. How long have you had yours off?

I have yet to do it yet maninly for the same reason that I don't want to mess with the fuel rail lol. One of these days on my next day off I'll try to do it if it's really not that hard.

I'm fairly new to working on my Mitsubishi but I've restored a 1985 nissan 300xT, It's fairly easy, that's what I was most concerned with but it's easier than I anticipated, great write-up, just follow it and you can't go wrong
