a/c blower

hey guys, after running my a/c for abut 45 minutes today the fan stopped. I turned the car off and let it sit for 15 minutes and it started back working. everything else works fine, you can hear the idle drop when ac is turned on, no flashing lights, all the fan speeds work when it does work. The heat would not blow the fan either. My guess is the resistor, all fuses are good. I didnt heck any relays as everything turns one. You can hear the stuff under the dash moving and working all the electrical components just the fan stops after running for awhile. so either a resistor or the fan motor itself is giving out. which do you think i should start with first?

The blower resister getting too hot would shut off the blower fan except on speed 4. Climate control systems may function at maximum blower speed, but I can't promise that it would.

It's possibly the blower motor itself, but most likely is the resister. They commonly go, I've changed mine as well. Cheap Chinese ones work, but the speed steps kinda suck, so it's worth spending the extra $15 for a decent one

Does it still function on speed 4? Or do you have climate control

Hey sorry for the delayed response saber. But the only time it does NOT work is when I have the climate control turned all the way in the blue into the MAX AC setting. Works fine and blows cold and hard on the regular ac and even with the ventilation on circulate. All blower motors work fine and do the same for the heat setting, when I turn it to MAX AC is when the system refuses to blow. The compressor is still running but the blower will not blow. I will double check right now if this is on all speed settings or just 4 but it only happens with max ac

Ah, a blower resistor is just for the fans typically. I'd not heard of any interaction between the fans and AC control. I'd say we wait on some more answers from people with experience in that specific issue.

Mine was that my resistor caused settings 1-3 to not work at all, ever, 4 would always work. I changed resistor, and all worked again

I also had to change my blower resistor, they're common failure OEM parts on this car

If you're having a problem on Max A/C, that activates the recir mode with the vents in the dash, an advanced scan tool will read the faults, I suspect you have a faulty vent opener or potentiometer inside the dash that determines the current position to the A/C ECU, a big PITA to fix
