AC Replacement.

So i did some reading and apparently running your compressor with low oil will cause it to blow a seal. Which i think that was my case despite paying 180$ to have my system recharged and specifically told the guys at my local Midas to refill the oil in the compressor. Now idk if by recharging the system the compressor gets refilled automatically. Thing is i decided to change the AC compressor myself. Again. But i want to recharge it. So before i tackle it i wanted to know. The lines that go to the compressor have freon, right? The pag oil is in the compressor and those never mix? So if i pull the lines that means all of the freon will still be there and spray everywhere? Im sure im brewing a recipe for disaster here or should i just pay the 220$ to have my AC replaced? The guy will check it for leaks and recharge it.

U need to have the system properly drained into a collection machine before disconnecting lines for your safety

If the refrigerant sprays on your skin you will have a chemical freeze burn frostbite

Sounds unhealthy and apparently im very lucky as i have come into contact with the liquid before and did not suffer from it... twice. 😳😳 i'll take it to get replaced instead. I'll do this next week when i come bk as ill have more funds and have to tackle it since it's not fun to cook inside the car while waiting for a cold coffee drink in the drive thru. 😂

I've also personally done this a ton of times without issue. When it starts to leak out as you back off the line, let it slowly leak out. Easy as that. But I have tested just fully releasing it, and that was also ok. Just a little cold before I pulled away
