2006 GS Manual scraping noise from transmission?

187 Views 5 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  teslacadden
I just recently purchased this GS for a really good deal. It has a metal on metal scraping noise coming from the transmission. It goes away when I press the clutch but there is sort of a lag to it. I originally though it was the TOB but am kinda thinking it might be something with the input shaft bearing or seal. Also there is a small amount of fluid collecting at the very bottom right where the flywheel inspection plate is. I don't think it is oil and can't tell if it is clutch fluid or transmission fluid. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as I am new to the platform. Thanks in advance.

I also meant to say the sound seems to be coming out of where the clutch would be but also kinda feels like it is behinD the TOB and maybe on the transmission side. Hard to tell because it is so close.

These cars over time will make all kind of noises. Yes, the clutch sounds, yes you hear the gears, that is why you want the car!!! That said, not all noises are good. This is something a mechanic that has worked the trani before, and those are coming scarce, if you have a performace mitsubishi nearby please go ASAP.

Unfortunately I don't have the luxury. I am probably just going to order a complete rebuild kit and just replace everything haha
