basically from what i see from the photos I don't see why not, there's the three cables that hook up to the 3 pins in the back of the head unit and then two more cables there for the power I would guess?

[This thread is were I got the info to for the aux cable, when I was looking for the part number so I thought I would repost this here for others...feel free to move it if I'm in the wrong.]

I finally got an Iphone and sooo I needed to buy an Aux cable so I can Pandora my way to work...this what I did.

Parts:

MZ360135EX- Aux MP3 Cable-$16.00 (ordered online)

Instructions for connecting wires

This how it looked under my middle console as you can see there were already some wires ready for me to connect the lighter too, don't know a lot about the wiring so if anyone knows what these are here for let me know I just assumed it was there for that specific reason.

Image

So then I decided where I wanted to have the lighter and drilled a hole for it directly into the floor of what should be the bottom of the middle console.

In this pic I'm just showing how I hooked the wires for the lighter and you can also see the aux jack with a extension hooked to it.

Here it is all connected and tied.

the finished product- I used my old MP3 player for the photo bc I was using my phone to take the picture. Basically now I can hook up my Iphone and charge it with my usb within the compartment. Saving myself $200 dollars for a cable that does both in the glove box...where I don't want it. Let me know what you think!!!! :bigthumb:

i have a 2007 eclipse spider, how do i open the cover of the stereo to reach the the back so i can install the aux input cable, which tools do i need? i am a girl and dont want to break anything
thanks
The front cover of the 6 cd changer just pops off I grip it from the bottom you can use a panel lift bar or a screw driver if it feels tight...you can get a panel pry bar at pep boys It doesnt have sharp edges so you don't have to worry about scratching anything. Once it comes off just remove the four screws holding the stereo in and then you'll see the 22pin dilio and then your home free. Good luck with that!!!!!!

The instructions I've read about adapters, like the PIE MIT-POD or MIT-3.5M, say that your factory stereo must support AUX input. You must test aux mode by holding the CD button for 3-5 seconds to see if it says AUX on the display.

Unfortunately for me, nothing happens when holding the CD button while the stereo is on. Is there anything I can do? Just not thrilled about an FM transceiver for my iPod.

you probably can go to a local audio shop and they'll have universal kits or be able to put one together. Where i live there is a place called Sound Solutions which has really good quality stuff, knowledgeable people, and they are easy to work with. Not sure if its nation wide or just a local shop, but anyway look for places like that, they'll most likely will be able to come up with something for you.

I bought the dealership cable a long time ago and wired it to a female jack installed in the horizontal underneath portion of the stereo face. The problem is I never use it because it sounds awful. If I connect my cellphone and turn its volume all the way up and then turn the head units volume all the way up its still not very loud and lacks any bass or treble. Does anyone else experience this? I was thinking of building a opamp based signal amp to get the voltages up but want to check first that I don't have something wrong. Mine is a 2006 with the premium sound.

EDIT: I was able to get matching volume/quality as the radio with my laptop at full volume. This was an output of 1.8Vrms which is higher than most portable music devices will output.

bought from ebay 27.95 shipped to PR

found one on ebay for only $10, just got it in the mail today and hooked it up while wiring in my 15" sub and sounds nice and clear, only downside is it doesnt come with directions, but their already posted up above so why pay more when you can get the same sound quality product for around half the price :)

Sorry to bring this back alive, but I have a question.

I have this cable and I have been enjoying it for months. the other day I tried to plug my Droid X into it, and the dash unit says "Phone" and wont play my music. My phone acts like nothing is plugged in and plays through it's own speaker.

I just installed my aux cable into my '09 Spyder GT. And I got it working without frying anything!! :ndance:

Now I can play music and such right off of my iPhone!! And it sounds great!! Now I just need my CAI to arrive so I can install that this weekend...hopefully...
