DNA Motoring Strut Tower Brace

Hey guys. I ordered one of the DNA Motoring strut braces off of ebay. The price was pretty good, and it looked a lot stronger than some of the toothpick bars. I did some research and read that even though it says it is for the 2006-2012 Eclipse GS, it doesn't fit right. By looking at the pictures online, I thought it looked pretty close, and that I could make it work. I installed , and it is not a direct bolt in, but it's really close. In my car, aside from the 3 pointed bolts on top of the strut, there are also two threaded studs with no nuts. These are in the way to mount the bar. I am not sure what they are for, so I was reluctant to remove them, though that may be an option. Instead, I just removed a little off the brace mounts to make them fit. The only thing that may be a problem, is it sits right on the master cylinder, though it is not putting pressure on it. I did a test drive, and it drives great, and is a fairly cheap and easy mod.

It looks nice. Don't these cars come equipped with a front STB though? At least mine does; I don't know if the GTs came with one but the GSs didn't. Mine has three mounting points, the struts and one in the middle attached to the firewall.

I'd be concerned about the functionality of one like this though. STBs are only effective if they don't flex before your chassis does (a good test is to shake the shit out of it after you bolt it in, and if it's flexing under your own strength, it won't be any good at what it's designed to do), and this one has pivot points at each neck, which I would think affect it's ability to prevent flex. If it were me with a GS and I didn't have a strut tower brace, I'd look to bolt one in from a GT, or an aftermarket unit that was a solid one-piece design.
Not sure I'd like something sitting right on top of my brake fluid resevoir either.
The two-studs siting on top of the towers are indeed for the stock strut brace.

And yes, the STB came stock on the GT.
I have the same bar and it fits great on my car. I noticed it stays flatter through turns and the car does handle better. My GS did not come with a stock FSB.

It does sit on the brake resoiver but I installed 2 washers on each stud to raise it just a little without it being dangerous and it has worked great so far.

Thanks! The washers are a great idea. The bar is right on the cylinder, but so far ok. Now to get rhat timing belt done....
If you flip the bar around to where the mounts are facing toward the engine it will be away from the brake reservoir

Equally effective is to just not run the bar. It's a cosmetic item, not performance. It flexes and has hinges. You'll never see something like it on any engineered racecar. Strut bars need to resist chassis twist. Not twist with it
