Would it be worth it to go with that setup on an 09 GT Auto? Looking to increase more power but RRE doesn’t seem to be making any headers soon (I have emailed them but still no answer)
Or should I just stick with OBX headers even though a lot of people say they will just cause problems.
OBX are a gamble. They're either better than RRE, or garbage. The quality control just isn't there, so fitment is all over the place.
As for exhaust mods, you won't see much gain aside from headers. The stock pipe size is pretty good for a street car, 2.5-2.75" for mixed street and track, 3" for pure track. Being an auto, even 2.75" for pure track would be a good go to keep the revs down and reduce trans heat.
so basically all i can do is get a cai and call it a day? lmao. cuz i could buy the obx headers from ebay but i have to go thru welding a whole new o2 bung and extending the sensor.
would it be a waste if i get the injen cai and the injen ses with the stock headers?
The two biggest changes you'll get are headers, and a tune.
Everything past that engine bolt on wise, you get a lot of sound change, and small power gains (eg, 10hp between intake and exhaust). So it's your call.
I think you'd best be going headers, tune, change muffler, and a nice set of coilovers if you wanted a good play car and budget is a concern. Exhaust can be skipped, plus the injen is a 3", which you'll definitely feel the loss at low-mid RPM
I think i’ll just wait until rre replies or even replies ever. i’m not sure. i just wanted some increase in speed but i guess i’ll get the injen cai, and just keep the stock exhaust. maybe cut off the main cat and reso and put an aftermarket reso to get rid of some drone
i just wanted some more hp from the stock 265 hp😭😭
Headers and a tune are what you mostly want. Tune is worth about 10-15whp as is, 15-20 with headers. But the combo is where the majority of gains are had, and fuel economy rises a fair bit.
I called around mechanics and muffler shops around my area, and I think i will get the obx headers and just go thru the process of welding an o2 sensor and all of that. wish me luck.
also, where and how do i get my car tuned? because i’ve asked around before and tuner shops said it’s not worth to tune it. please let me know saber lmao
I was just like you wanting a little bit more I put one of the real mega razin electrical fixer on, a straight through flowmaster muffler and injen cold air on I lost nothing on the low end still smokes the tires just fine Sounds awesome and I’m flying around town sounds awesome under bridges and tunnels and gets better gas mileage now for sure. I’m content. If I did anything else it would be an aem fic 6 with some bigger injectiors or just nitrous bomb it!!
Also make sure you install the full injen kit not just the ram air! Ditch your driver side fog light and throw in a small chicken wire screen and let it suck actual cold air. It’s not fair to say you only get 10hp increase because it’s weather dependent. If it’s -10 degrees out your going to see a lot more than that 10hp increase if it’s 100 degrees out obviously you will get a lot less!
