But what is being protraied is two men throwing a fit and pointing fingers in public. Would you put your faith in someone after this?

I hope everything works out, but for one I would need to see a better track history then I've seen in the last couple of weeks.
To be fair though, all Michael has done is respond the the accusations Brent threw out unprovoked with his side of the story. Michael was entirely happy to deal with this behind closed doors, but Brent was the one who decided it was necessary to bring this onto the forums. Should this have been handled better? Most definitely, but to lay blame on Michael for causing this is unnecessary. He has not resorted to petty comments or wild accusations, and from what I've seen is offering support through the channels that were originally set up at the beginning of their venture, the UVTune support forum. This dispute could have easily been handled privately, yet from all indications Brent has been non-cooperative in regards to agreeing to file dissolution paperwork, asset appraisal, etc. If anything, I feel more comfortable dealing with Michael over Brent at this point solely for the fact that Mike didn't think lambasting the other on a public forum was a good idea.

I do not think more or less of one over the other. Both have made mistakes that reflect poorly on both.

Each has their own story and neither match.

Brent was the first to post that I saw. Michael walked away. Both are playing symantics with word games as to the fileing. One says attorney first one says file. Both are in a pissing contest.

I am not saying who is right or wrong. Both are probably great people.

My only comment was because of all this that at this time I would not give either of them any of my money.

Someone needs to get off their pride and get it resolved befor neither have anything. And it could happen.

I posted this on c4gnation as well:

My goal is simple to get a product out there that is not server related once you purchase its yours. Support will be from well established companies and tunes all proven. I am co-ordinating the new project when it is up and running I will be walking away once it is running smoothly.

Rob is right, I think all of this has shown a real ugly side of both mike and i. Very rarely have i ever felt the need to defend myself but i did. To be honest I did not handle it well and I am truly sorry for that. I take full responsibility for what I said but I also believe it is accurate and correct from my point of view. Should it have hit the public??? looking back I should've handled it better and again I am sorry for that.

Once the new product id up and my plans are to walk away after it is running smoothly. In regards to the new product one major hurdle taken care of today

Sorry you are wrong. The ECU itself does not support boost. It never did and never will. So it's not a simple matter like going and finding the boost table because it doesn't exist. Same goes with advanced features like launch control and boost cut.

These are features that I designed and patched into the factory code. It took years of decoding tables and routines to understand how the ECU controls fuel so I could figure out how and where to insert these patches. The software to decode the assembly language alone costs $1200 so there is no free lunch.

In the EVO community there are guys like tephra who do the same sort of stuff I do but for the eclipse community it's just too small.

Fair enough. So we can read/write/edit all we want, but its a matter of the ECU itself accepting the flash and changes?

Just catching up on this thread and realized I missed this:

Hi, welcome! Who are ya? I'm not being rude at all, I'm really curious now. Are you the new tuner guy, or are you affiliated with ECUflash?
I am one of the two people that is Tactrix, the maker of EcuFlash software and OpenPort hardware. I am not a tuner.

EDIT: Oh yeah, because its open source and editable I 'm under the impression we can also add tables and such and adjust it for boost applications. (correct me I if I'm wrong)
Incorrect. As Michael (hackish) mentioned, you can't add tables without modifying/patching the code so that the ECU can use those tables.

Please, by all means chime in more. Progress is progress and we need all the help we can get with this car!
I'm hoping we'll have something for testing shortly, but this will only allow for reading/writing/editing. Perfect for someone comfortable making their own changes or working with an remote tuner, but not a replacement for the knowledge needed to add turbo capacity or other features not already present in the ECU.

Iv been using hackish softwear n tunes for almost 2 years with no problems :). I will always go to hackish for my tuning needs ! He is the only one to be able to make softwear from nothing and make it work for na,turbo, and supercharged engines. And it's safe and turn key operation. Iv met hackish and got a driving tune and the guy is very smart and very helpful and answered and questions no matter how stupid they were. I would not recommend Brent's tuning capabilities to anyone all he is is a money man that finds people to do all the work well he sits back and collects the pay check. The reflash has done more for my car then all the mods iv done !

It's nice to vouch for someone's work but if Michael and Brent are going to take a few days off from the back and forth, it would be cool to support that and not spark a fresh round of name calling. They're both people that feel strongly about what they do. Business partnerships are hard and their partnership didn't work out. It seems like they're moving forward with less public animosity, so why not support that? Let it go.

We've both gone our own separate directions. You can't dissolve a corp unless the other partner agrees to file the proper paperwork so it's really a dead issue. I can't force him to dissolve and he can't force me to give up my shares.

I've opted to sit down and develop my own modules. They're not the same, and in a few ways they work much better than the old stuff. I also had an individual offer me some original OEM data for tuning these so as you can well imagine I'm going to be meeting with him to purchase the info very shortly.

I can't control what others say and feel about Brent. If you choose to read all the posts back and forth you can quickly see that my push has been to correct and disprove incorrect items published and try to force an agreement to dissolve. I don't have time to deal with issues like this taking my energy away from R&D.

Within the old partnership I was the one who provided all the technical expertise and tuning. I may not be using any of the same technology but that doesn't magically make what's in my brain go away. You can consider the new project to be the next evolution.

I agree.
To be honest I feel it's all been said and more. Each person here has the right to their opinion in each side. But out of respect I'm trying to stay out of it.
They gave me a refund promptly and so I'm content with moving forward .

So on to the topic at hand .

I've been working on trying to get new things going involving a new reflash .
Only one issue that I see remains . Buy I'm hoping to solve this soon.

^^^Agreed. Its a business matter between businessmen we should all leave that part alone instead of making it worse.

Anyway, bump for updates/news on reflash progress. Its been a while and I'm sure we're all still curious about possibilities, I am.

I am posting here as the title is new reflash and this is about another reflash. I tested another Flash method (not MMCFLASH) yesterday. I have been asked to keep the Company name quiet for now.

The program read and wrote to my ECU car is running no issues. There are still a few things to work out but I used the flash program and it did work! When I get the go ahead I will make a new and separate post.

Before anyone asks what about MMCFLASH and all the work I and a few others have done. Its simple I am trying to get the most cost effective and reliable tuning method available to this community. I did not make a dime off MMCFLASH and I wont be making anything off this either. There is nothing wrong with MMCFLASH it works perfectly. Just trying to give you all options.

Update:

Buddy of mine came over yesterday with his 2007 Eclipse GT. We tested the new software read, edit and write. Major success!!!! there are still a few minor things to work out but when its done the cost of a reflash/tune just got a TON cheaper! From the numbers I have now the entire package is less than $375usd

Merlin is back! let the tuning begin!!!!! Projects will include NA Turbo and SC.

The Free software (read, write and edit) I have been testing is not ready I hope it will be ready soon. TO get the process started you can use ECUFLASH to read ONLY. I can rent out my mmcflash for tuning if anyone is interested. Pay the cost upfront and I will return the money when you ship to the next person.

The latest version of ECUFLASH is a bit more clear. Again to READ ONLY.

2006-2008 MT use 512k M32176F4
2006-2009 AT use 768k M32176F6
2009+ both MT and AT use mitsucan M32186F8

I still need to test the 2009+for read writing, I believe it is good to go but I can't be 100% on this. If anyone has used ECUFLASH on a 2009+ successfully please share your findings.

send all files/roms to:

XXXclusivemotorsportsXXX@gmail.com

I will respond to emails, PM's.

WOW!! The response in one day was very impressive thank you! As mentioned in my last post the free software is not 100% ready, (hopefully soon)

I have been asked if it was possible to "borrow/rent" the flash tool. Quick answer is yes.

Up-font costs: (Basically you are paying the replacement costs)

Tactrix $170usd
MMCFLASH $287usd
Merlin Definition $250usd
Shipping $40usd

If you have any of the tools then just do not include thenmin the costs. When you are fully tuned simply ship the tools to the next person and I will refund your money (except the shipping costs) Always get a tracking number and signature.

Minus the shipping costs essentially you are getting a Merlin tune for $250usd.

Any questions Please let me know XXXclusivemotorsportsXXX@gmail.com I can answer much quicker VIA email.

Since the split of my other company here have been a few guys come forward that are willing to offer their services for custom tuning. The base tune is good but also conservative (like it should be) can more be had? yes but that will come from either yourself or an experienced tuner.

The more options we all have the stronger it makes this community!

I am so confused... What are the ECU flash/re-flash options that are available right now, either privately or commercially (i.e. any businesses offering tuning products)? I don't know who to go to or who to trust or who to believe at this point.

The 2 main competing products are MMCFLASH/ECUFLASH and Fastworks

I will only mention "flashes" that will do complete flash from start to finish at this time.

MMCFLASH

MMC Flasher 2

Fastworks

When considering what system to go with it all boil down to a few important factors, you have to find what works best for you. Some suggestions:

1.Who is dissembling the raw data and creating the "definitions" one wrong table or scaling can cause serious headaches (before anyone starts in on I am making this sound like a Acamus V Merlin v Hackish also consider Open Source, who is doing the Defs there? some scary stuff there)
2. The software being used, reliability and ease of use.
3. Support MAJOR factor. When flashing your ECU if anything goes wrong and it can do not let anyone say other wise, how easy is to recover the ecu and is support needed, meaning can you recover the ECU by your self without having to contact support. Nothing is worse than flashing a car and it wont start, that feeling is the worse.
4. How the systems are set up. Really ask questions about this. All systems have advantages and disadvantages.

Again if you flash the ecu enough or have a brain cramp you can run into issues. Brain cramp things: you move the laptop and the cable disconnects, laptop battery dies in the middle of flashing, you cause a power surge (open a window, turn on a power draining stereo there are many I have seen it happen) or the ECU does not accept a file. All of these can "brick" the ECU. For me the most important thing is, what is the process to recover the ECU and how easy is it. Its happened to me and it is not a good feeling.

Do not buy into a sales pitch (funny coming from me) Do not listen to sales people get you excited to buy on impulse, that is their job. Look at the advantages and disadvantages of the systems, lts open this up for talks!!!

FastWorks is a company. I work full time on tuning software and tuning vehicles for me it's a career not a hobby. I designed the original reflash. I have nearly 15 years of experience designing, building and performance packages.

Nearly every reflashed car out there is running my tunes. We're talking about millions of miles driven on nearly 200 Eclipses. I've been doing them since 2009.

Others can tell you all sorts of stories but at the end of the day nobody else in the world has done as many aftermarket tunes on 4G eclipses.
