First time Eclipse owner. bought an 07 Spyder GT with only 16,000 km (10,000) miles. Even though it's 12 years old it looks like new. First time convertible owner as well. So far so good. Tons of fun to drive. Parked now for the winter (Manitoba, Canada) but I'm working on a few things for spring. First question is even though there is only 10,000 miles on the car the timing belt is still 12 years old. Should I spend the money to change or do you guys think it's ok to run for awhile. Thanks. Definitely change it ASAP. Sitting without being used, especially with the wild Canadian climate, actually makes the belt more prone to snapping as it just becomes brittle.

Yeah, this should be your #1 priority. Imagine a tire sitting for 12 years. It's going to get brittle and dry rot to the point where it probably won't be able to hold air. This belt is basically the spinal cord of your engine. If it breaks, you're completely fucked
