I'm in the process of restoring my car back to as original as possible, including OEM stereo which means no ability for a back up camera.... unless I use one of the ones that hooks over your rear view mirror. The problem is those mirrors are freakin massive and it won't fit over it. I was thinking of removing it for now and just putting up a basic mirror so I can attach a back cam and just tucking the wires up so I can reattach it later. Has anyone ever removed the rearview mirror? I tried looking on youtube for it but couldn't find anything.

Sorry I can’t help as apparently my car has a SafeLite windshield and a cheap Walmart rear view mirror so idk what the stock mirror was
Mine didn’t have the auto dimming or anything plugging into the mirror

Was very helpful, thanks! I didn't know it just unplugged from power. I was able to just slide it off and buy a cheap one from napa and I was able to put a dashcam right over it. Worked out perfect!
