I've searched the forum for this specifically and I could not find anything on this, so I figured I'd post a question about it.
Recently I've purchased an A/M Header w/integrated cats; replaced Bank 1 Sensor 1 O2 Sensor, and managed to reset all codes after logging necessary miles. Passed inspection, and this finally happens...
...Omw to Walmart when my SES light came back on, and my car started rough idling. Haven't been able to make time to use my code reader at home since I've got 2 full-time jobs; I will post more once I get the code figured out.
Not sure about the process with headers (especially on the GS), but when I did my intake, I had a pretty rough idle- almost stalled out- for the first little bit. Even when I took out my muffler and 3rd cat it was kinda weird for a little bit, but it did sound like a beast at the same time. It takes your computer a little bit of time to adjust to changes in back pressure, or airflow from a new intake. I'd try to put a few more miles on the car, just take it easy, and give the computer some time to learn. I know a tune would eliminate all of that, and it would really help you squeeze the most power out of your engine with your mods.
Again, don't take my word for it, as I'm not that smart in the first place, especially regarding the GS. James AKA Sabertooth^2 is the resident GS master, and I'm sure he can chime in and offer some more helpful advice! But rough idle seems to be common for new I/H/E installs. I'd also recommend checking the codes if you get a chance, cause that would really help people offer some advice. Hope you resolve the issue soon!
Yeah, I've used the new gasket that came alongside the A/M Header assembly. Will definitely check out Autozone. If or when the time comes, I will definitely look into getting a hackish tune, but definitely want to knock in some mods first!
I am not the original owner unfortunately; the previous owner treated this car terribly. Smashed it, cracking the front & rear bumper cover; duct-taped the LT Quarter Panel to the bumper even though there are no missing clips and pins. So I have to remove the duct-tape residuals, readjust the LED headlamps and replace the rear bumper cover.
So far, I have an A/M CAPA-certified front bumper cover, terribly painted lol. I have the TBB, illuminated Konig wheels, a Black Spyder 5021786 wing and lastly; rear-wiper assembly delete.
I plan on finishing the whole list you guys have for mods on GS-types, and planning on taking it further in any which way it takes!
