Just rebuilt my engine (1st time ever)....happy it runs good and quiet and doesn't pass the half mark...but just wondering- I see it stays around 195 and every once in a while ventures up to 201 fans cuton and then it comes back to around 195. Even though it doesn't overheat the upper radiator hose is full and HOT. Drove it 30 miles no problem, just making sure this is normal?

185-190f GS, 195-200f GT

GT has the radiator not set to blow full strength fans until 226F. Starts around 200f. Below that, it's purely just the radiant cooling of the radiator without airflow.

GS has only an on/off for the rad, but about 190f.

The upper rad hose on both should ALWAYS be full, and if it's hot, it means water is leaving through the thermostat to the rad, which is totally working as it should.

Everything is totally normal on yours. Oil temperature is more important to monitor than coolant temperature, and what's safe there depends on which oil you run.
