I was just wondering how many people are interested in turbo manifolds for the 4g69.. I know it varies by platform and not all the RA stuff fits the 4g eclipse. Everyone should check out Motorsports Engineering on Facebook. They have options that people on there might like.

Here is his first prototype. I had estimates done on a stainless custom manifold, and was quoted $9-1100 for it. He'll be selling his for around 1/2 that price.

These are the real deal, and I will be switching up my setup for one!

They look really good and would be worth $1000 a pop. I know firsthand how much work goes into welding those up, especially if you're doing 2 passes with the root and then capping it. Just the cost in materials, pipes and (if stainless) the flanges is easily going to be $400-$500.

I think you guys should ditch the mitsu flange for a T3. T3/T04 turbos are cheap and reliable with many upgrade options for the budget minded customers and GT/GTX ball bearing turbos are available for those who do have the funds. There are not enough options that work well with the 2.4l engine in the mitsu lineup.

Also, offer a downpipe. I think this would go a long way for people who want to build their own kit but may not have the time or fabrication skills.

I apologize for the horrible wording but: Does the location of our piping match up with any other generations? While we know the flanges and bolt locations are different, would it be possible to take a 1g or 2g turbo manifold and hack off the manifold flange and weld on a 4g flange? Reason being you can get these manifolds for relatively cheap and just reflange them to fit the 4g69. Could save hours and hours of labor?

:banghead: damn.

If you take a piece of turd and polish it you still only have a piece of turd. The dsm manifolds were nothing special! Get some punk to build you a proper one.

Ima tell all my 2g buddies hackish said dsm=turd :D lol and they are special cause theyre cheap. I can get a decent 4g63 turbo manifold for like $100 off a buddy and a 4g69 manifold from a junkyard and have a buddy weld it for free. I cant get him to weld a 4g69 turbo manifold from nothing for that cheap :(

DSM manifolds were turd. Cutting a flange off a cast manifold and trying to weld it to a mild steel stock part is asking for trouble. Even if you properly pre-heat the piece, use the proper nickel rod to weld it there is a very significant chance it will still crack. The nickel rods alone will cost the weldor $20

Now what will you do if/when it does crack? you're stuck with a custom downpipe and you're going to need a new manifold that's exactly like the old one, or make a new downpipe.

I'm not trying to poo poo your idea, just point out that I've seen this sort of thing tried many times. In hondas people used to buy an HF manifold and weld a T3 flange on it. When it cracked they'd bring it to me, I'd excavate the crack, pre-heat, re-weld and $100 later they'd leave for another week until it cracked someplace else. It got so bad that I started making logs in the exact dimensions of an HF part. When they got tired of taking their HF manifold off they'd buy the log. $50 for the manifold, $20 for a t3 flange, $100 at Joe's welding. $100 getting the cracks re-welded with me. or $350 for a stainless steel log...

I just hate seeing the same mistakes made over and over by every generation of car enthusiast.

Thank you.

My bad :/ if anything hackish helped promote by explaining why its better to have this guy make you a manifold instead of having a buddy do it the way I suggested?

Bump. He does twin scroll manifolds too! Currently budgeting for one. Never thought id see the day I quit smoking and drinking monster for my car >.<
