I was looking into getting these lights. Has ANYONE purchased these exact ones? I was wondering what they were rated at as well as how many k they are (eg. 6000k, 8000k, etc). I was also wondering if they were illegal BECAUSE of the "blue" instead of white. If anyone could help me out, that would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I'm looking for use on the roads, I want really blue lights but I wouldn't want to go with the super high 15000k or 12000k because I think it would blind people (and you don't want to accidentally blind a cop, especially if they aren't legal)

I think you have a misconception about the heat ratings on HIDs.

The color is determined by the heat level. The temp does not determine if the light is brighter.

My opinion is do not go higher than 6000k. It looks ricey and defeats the whole purpose of getting HIDs.

Technically speaking, federal law says that if a vehicle does not come with an HID system from the factory, it is illegal. With that said, they have a tough time proving that in court, so they will go after you with color. Once you get into the range of blues, purples, etc, you become a target. Police are also able to claim that forward-facing blue lights count as impersonation. Another member on this forum got hit with that for having blue glow emblems in his headrest nooks.

I'd say to go with 5,000-6,000K, as that will net you from bright white, to a hint of blue with your lights. Here's an example of mine with a 5K kit from DDM Tuning:

Also, Xero is correct. Temperature does not determine brightness; however, it's been shown that the further away you are from "natural sunlight", the more your visibility suffers. Hope this helps.

Don't bother with law enforcement. They will tell you that any modification to your stock headlights is illegal. I bet that ACI's HIDs are 8000k. Call Joe and ask him.

Looks like what I have.
1. They do not come with HIDs. HIDs may be hard to fit without a little drilling of the hole for the bulb. I had to drill just a hair out in order for my HIDs to fit.
2. If you get these, do yourself a favor and reseal them. They tend to leak a little.
3. While you have them apart, replace the LED angel eyes with CCFLs.
4. HIDs do not work as well with these projectors as they do in stock headlights.

Bingo!
Plus, when modding, I like to ask myself, "Does this mod make my car more closely resemble an Aston Martin or a Honda Civic?" It serves me well.

CCFLs burn nice and bright, and tend to be cheaper than LED rings. Check out the CCFL goodness:

Edit: I should note that the LED rings I'm speaking of are literally a ring of LEDs, and not the single LED projecting into the plastic diffuser, as those cheap LED eBay halos are. The eBay ones are garbage compared to a good CCFL, and it's the difference between a halogen looking ring, and a newer BMW looking ring.
