this is just a quick thread about how i installed my aux cable i bought at the dealership for bout 25 bucks.

first just pop off the faceplate, gently pull from the bottom an should come right off, dont forget to unplug the connector to the hazard button.

next unscrew the four screws holding in the stereo.

Image

then unplug these connectors so the whole unit can come out.

Image

after that make sure to lift up the little retainer so that you can easily slide in the three pins.

Image

the three pins go in just how you see in the picture, the red goes into the bottom right open slot , the white goes right above it and the black goes just to the left of that. so the only open spot is the third to last opening on the bottom.

Image

next i took off most of the middle section, everything easily pops off, just remember to unplug everying.

then i basically just ran the cord along the right side tucked away from everything.

the cup holder is a perfect place to run the cord, just slide it thu and the top will still open and close like normal.

everything works perfect and sounds amazing! i reccomend this for everyone.

I've found several different types of cables / adapters for these.
Not sure which I need an which gives the best sound qulity, an if any let you control an ipod from the steering wheel.

Install looks easy enough. Though No offense to anyone here, I don't like the whole center consol or glove box location thing. I've devised another route. Though still trying to decide how I want to hide the cable when I do it.

The aux cable kit comes with the male end shown? That blows chunkies, then you have a cable coming out from somewhere/nowhere. I was hoping when I got around to it that it would be the female input so I could drill a little hole next to the cigarette lighter for it to sit...

Freaky, not sure why but I love that shifter handle. Who makes that?

You can buy a FF adapter which is what some of the people here have done and then drilled a hole by the blue led light below the center dash gray color plate for the female end to be situated.

On eBay it says it wont work with the Rockford system?
When you come up with statements like that, it would be very helpful to post a link because you could be looking at a completely different cable OR the post could be wrong.

You can buy the cable from your Mitsu dealership or you can get it from mitsubishiparts.net also. Part # I believe is MZ360135EX.

This thread here [source] has all the info you need including pics of how it installs on an RF system.

just installed mine. took like 10 min. shit was easy and no more cds!! i have the cable running down from the bottom of where the radio face plate comes off (right above the ac/heat vent knob. need a mount so i can use the ipod without having to pick it up and lose focus on the road. the sound quality is so much better than using my FM transmitter, which is terrible :p
