so does it not work for iphones? cause my doesnt seem to be working
I have an iPhone and worked just fine. Should work with anything with an aux input.

Careful with the pins. I did a crappy job installing it in my wifes gt and now you have to crank it to make it work.

Thanks for these great instructions and detailed pics. It made for a very easy install. One question though... Has anyone noticed that with an iPhone (not sure about others) it works great if just audio cable is plugged into phone but as soon as you connect the charging cable to either 12v cigarette lighter adapter, the display goes to "PHONE" and the Audi cuts out???
Interestingly, even though it display PHONE, if you make a call, it does not come out the speakers. Don't care about that bit but I would like to be able to keep it charging as I play music.
Anyone come up with a solution for this one?
2007 Eclipse Spyder.

Thanks!!

Hmmmm....do you have the iPhone 4S?

I've rooted around a little bit here -- granted not searching as thoroughly as I should have -- but I haven't even noticed anyone mentioning "PHONE" bopping up on the display. I don't even have to hold it down for a few seconds. If I have it in AUX mode with just AUX-headphone audio cable connected then plug in the charger cable to either lighter output, PHONE displays right away and audio cuts out.

I'll try it the other way around -- charger cable first then AUX cable to see it that makes a difference -- after the sun comes up-:)

Yeah I have a 4S and mine has never gone into that "phone" mode. I plug it in and just play music. I wouldn't think they would interfere with each other.

Well this is really weird, I guess. Only thing I can think of now it is either something specific to my 4S (I'll try a friend's tomorrow) or my '07 Spyder GS has a different RF head unit than your GT -- they may have had a different run at assembly. Because I literally tried every permutation of:

- using a different iPhone charger cable (one with USB that goes in cig lighter)
- plugging in AUX cable first vs. iPhone cable first
- starting with ignition off vs. on
- turning ignition on with / without cables connected

And no matter what, as soon as that iPhone power cable gets connected (or if it is already connected) the display goes to PHONE and no music.

Oh well, pretty much committed now to just using an old iPod I hardly use anymore (if that goes to "PHONE" display, I give up!!) until I can trash the RF unit for something more modern. Guess I'll start comparing at Crutchfield!!

Thanks for your input, Jeremy.

No problem man best of luck to you. You have an odd situation. When you change out the stock head unit I imagine those problems would disappear.

Idk if this has been covered yet or not but... In my case I didn't have time to wait the week and a half for the part to come in.

Take a regular red/white/headphone cable and chop off the red and white ends. Splicing the conduit you'll see a little red/white wires surrounded by strings of copper. The bare copper is your ground/black. Radio shack should have the pins you need to tap into the factory harness.

Cable was 6$ and the pins are dime a dozen. Just saying I did this because of the time constraint. I leave tomorrow

Hey any help would be greatly appreciated! I was installing this on my girls 08 Spyder. Everything was going great unit the head unit fell forward towards the shifter. The two hire harnesses inside the housing detached themselves and I can't find where they hook up now? If you need pics I will get them. Thank you very much in advance!

Thank you!
Had a busy day today I'll make sure I get up tomorrow and take some pictures of the back of mine to show you what it should look like.

Is this an aftermarket head unit?
