Now that the swap is done, its time to start modding my GS Monster! Got some goodies going on order this week, I'll be sharing pics, thoughts, and progress here.

To begin, here are some fresh clean pics of my ride.

oh man. I can't get enough of it. maybe the biggest job ever pulled on a 4g. if not then certainly up there. So you have a GT now, right? I mean, what else makes it a GS besides the engine?

All that just to install the 6sp mt shift assembly, it was not fun, and I was super lucky not to break anything on the dash mounting points.

What are your plans for it?
As Joey said.. Man you pulled a heck of a stunt. Keep it up, very interested in this build.
Most likely going to go the super charger route, not looking to build the beast Joey is building, but just looking for a little bit more out of the motor.

yeah the gt's have traction control, some newer gs's do. Also trevor if you want traction control, the wiring harness and all is already in the car, all you need is the button and relay if I remember correctly. When I installed my nitrous buttons the wiring harness plug was right behind my blank button. Next to my foglight button.
I'm actually glad I do not have traction control, I don't want the computer interfering with anything I'm doing.

Great work Trevor! Looking good.

Saweet! Thanks :ndance:

true, but at least it is able to be turned off for the gt guys haha. I've never noticed a need for it before either.
Is it a lagit traction control, or does it just notify you that one of the driving wheels are slipping?

I want to do a 5 spd manual swap. But thats pretty scaryyy.

Did some time under the hood last night and today. First I had to replace the rear cylinder head gasket as it was seeping oil out of it. It wasn't a lot of oil, but I didn't want it to get worse over time. Also, received thermal gaskets from Outlaw Engineering, so I got those on while in the midst of the head gasket.

I've began brainstorming on what it would take to build a 400hp NA car... hmmm, think I'm going to start cataloging ideas and parts to get an idea on how to make it happen. May go that route instead of FI if its possible.... will see.

Here are some pics..

Sub'd for this, i'm sure there's some good things in store. Great job on the swap, i'm glad you finally got it running. For the Outlaw Spacers, did you have to cut the 2 brackets like everyone else does?

#29 ·
Thanks Preston, and yes, same deal with everyone with cutting those brackets. I also had to cut the bracket under the throttle body as well. I just lobbed off the top of the brackets with a dremel and was good to go.

So were they worth it? I've read Danester's thread on them, but just wanted to hear your personal opinion. The only thing that worries me about getting them is cutting the brackets. With the brackets cut, can you still bolt the manifold down?

Edit: Also did it come with the correct bolts? In Danester's spacers thread a lot of people got the wrong bolts with the kit, I just want to make sure that they got it fixed.

I did get the correct hardware on the first shot, I was worried about that too after reading Danester's thread.

I did notice a little more pep with the spacer on, its not over the top noticeable, just seems that throttle response was better. My intake manifold still does get quite hot though with the spacer, you can keep your hand on it with the spacer as where it was far too hot to touch without it.

You only cut the top of the brackets where the bolt goes through, so you get a "U" shape. Then you still can bolt it to the intake manifold.

#32 ·
Thanks for clearing that up for me Trevor, I just pulled the trigger and ordered these.

So what's next for you, headers?

#33 ·
Yep, headers next, and that will be the only thing I do with it for the rest of the summer. Then hopefully start collecting parts for a build over the winter.

Did something productive with the car today, I've ventured into ideas on how to further cool the intake manifold. I've already have outlaw thermal spacers, but the intake manifold still gets quite hot from sitting over the rear cylinder head. All that heat still rises up and cooks the manifold. So I found some "Exhaust Muffler Heat Insulation Mat" on eBay for about $20 and decided to wrap the underside of the intake manifold with it. Don't know if it makes much of a difference, but even if it just cools it down a few more degrees maybe helpful.

Here are some the pics...

I used Permatex high temp gasket maker as an addition adhesive measure, even though the mat does have a built in adhesive. Didn't want the thing getting so hot it didn't stick to manifold.
