Purchase. Will replace tomorrow when everything is cooled down. Just curious, whats so different about the upstream ones that they won't get damaged?
The upstream ones are designed to monitor afr's and emissions. The down stream is more focused on emissions. Thats why cat codes pop up without spacers.

Like what?
According to the tuner i was talking with last time i was dynod. The sudden expansion and then reduced exit size is hurting the flow because its making the exhaust to turbulent. He said it was the same effect as just gutting a main cat. Either way the car pulls better with the header back on and the nitrous afr's even got better.

just to let you all know, I have succesfully gutted both headers on my GT. The rear header was a huge pain in the ass. After removing all bolts on the rear header I couldnt get it out of the engine bay no matter how hard I tried so I ended up gutting the rear while it was still in the engine bay and vaccumed out all of the honeycomb material with a shop vac. It can be done but its really difficult. Also: My exhaust sounds a bit raspy after doing this. I'm going to get a new magnaflow this weekend and see if it helps with the raspy sound.
Its cause now the air gets a little turbulent when it comes out and hits the open space.

holy fuck this turned out to be a lore more work than id hoped for. Couldn't find the right drill bit so it took be an hour alone just to drill the non-fouler to the right size. Ran back and forth to advance, ended up having the same problem as Anthony27, couldn't get the passenger side spark plug out, ended up just removing the crap with the spark plug still in there, but it all worked out fine, even though it took 8 hours and snapping a bolt where the headers meet the exhaust.

Fuck me, but totally worth it!

just went to do this on my car and discovered that whoever owned it before me had already done it..... and done it well!!!! the entire inside was completely cleaned out and there was nothing to indicate that it had even been close to a problem to do. im grateful to not have to do it but kinda disappointed that i wasnt informed of this when i bought the car. oh well only place to go from here is up haha
If you bought it from a dealer its not something that they would look for. The biggest tell tale sign is the sound change
