Warm weather is here in the NorthEast, and I'm now motivated to get to tooling on the Eclipse once again. Received some parts this week, the hoses needed for the power steering finally arrived off back order, and Eristic Gasket Kit I picked off from eBay (used the same brand gasket kit on my turbo Nissan with no problems, so I'm confident the kit will hold true on the 6g75).

My first task was to make sure that the valves were absolutely bent, so I removed the intake manifold and valve cover to have a look at them. Sure enough, bent, on both cylinder heads. Here's a Video of what I was looking at.

Bent Valves Video!

I'm out of town this weekend, so heads will be coming off next weekend. Shouldn't take me too long to get them off and under way. With a recommendation from a friend, I'm holding off on buying valves till I can assess the damage, if any, to the valve seats and heads. I didn't see any damage to the cams or rockers so I believe to top end of the valve train is good. Hopefully its just a matter of replacing valves and bolting everything back up.... We'll see. I still need to finish the drive train as well, still need intermediate axle, and carrier bearing.

Beautiful day in the neighborhood for working on cars outside!

Here is a picture montage of this morning work of changing out the passenger side wheel bearing, and installing new sway bar links. I have enough pictures to create a how to, probably later tonight. They basically speak for themselves, so I'm just going to list them for your viewing enjoyment.

For those of you who have removed the heads, is it a 10mm hex socket that I'll need to remove the head bolts?

Come to long island ! :)

Removed the front head of the car yesterday, looks like only one of the intake valve is bent on each cylinder, I suspect the rear head is the same way. Probably could get away just replacing the bent valves, but going to do them all.

Piston's appear undamaged, just some smudges in the gunk that cover the top of them. I'll get that cleaned up before putting everything back together.

Dismantling the engine was not too difficult at all IMO, and even though apart, it still looks sexy to me. Ordered the valves this morning, so by mid next week I hope to have the heads rebuilt and back on the car.

Here are some pics I snapped, and a video because the pictures were hard to see.
